I am currently on treatment for Lyme and Bartonella. My new regimen consists of Zithromax 250mg bid, Minocycline 100mg tid, Rifampin 300mg bid, and soon to be added Levaquin 500mg either once or twice a day. This will leave me on the Mino and Levaquin once all is said and done for the Lyme/Bart. Has anyone tried this combo?! I am feeling horrible right now due to the addition of the new meds. I am praying that this adjustment will work. I have been on treatment for Lyme more or less for 9 months, and treatment for Bart since this past December. Any comments/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

SusanRae,

I can't answer your question right now as I am just starting treatment for lyme and my doctor suspects bartonella. Right now I am on 200mg of doxy twice a day and a probiotic. I go back in 2 months for blood test results and a follow up. If the doxy isn't helping he is going to change my meds. Please keep us posted on how this treatment works for you!

Wow Susan, that is a lot of meds to be taking. I know the Rifampin is a hard one to tollerate. and I don't want to scare anyone, but I've read some bad stuff about levaquin. Yes, it's a good drug, yes, I've been on it, no I would never take it again. Your body can only tolerate so much of this type of drug, nobody knows how much that is, could be one pill, could be 100000 pills. Once you reach that level of toxicity, you do what they call floxing, you can get some symptoms up to a couple years later that can actually make you think you're relapsing lyme disease, but it's from floxing and it's NOT treatable. Read up on it, and be educated ... Of course, I just found out about this, after having taken that drug many many times. Zith, Mino, are both great drugs... why no doxy? doxy is the first line of defense it seems, not sure why, but seems to be a good one.

I do hope you feel better soon, I know how it is to feel like this. (Now when I herx, I not only have my 65 symptoms, but started throwing up now too!) yeah me!!! haha. hey, we have to have it light sometimes right.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.
