MDJunction to me

saralaurie"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

This is my opinion- someone can only be 'cured' if they have a known bite, go immediately to the doc, get diagnosed and start antibiotics right then and there, for a month and nip that 28 day cycle in the bud (starting out with an optimal immune system) ... Other than that, it's 'remission'. I have never heard of anyone really being 'cured' but they may say it, then you will also hear them complain of this and that down the road (whether they have to start meds/herbs again is up to them)

I hear you- I love to hear those stories too. WE hang on to those!!!

I have been on abx for six. I hear you. I can't live like this either, and - going herbal. Too TOOOOOOOOOO tough.

Diets are the foundation of healing, no gluten, many will even say no fruit- raw foods, no aspartame of course, whole grains, food supplements (greens/etc) - the thing about the gluten free foods- you have to watch all your supplements and vitamins. They are bound to have fillers with rice flour/gluten that will also bring you down. Yeast overgrowth is a big problem with us.

Diet is tough for me. I have been interested in the Marshal protocol where even vitamin d can become BAD for you. Vitamin b12- the one that begins with 'cya...' is made with a cyanide base- another toxin we don't need. But the B12 that isn't made with that usually can only be obtained from a compounding pharmacy..

Here is a good article.

I am really starting to think that this is a slow, no need so suffer for months on end, no need to go broke solution.. I recommend this to all , esp those who want to have ONE good article on Lyme in general for family members. Not just on herbs.

http://www.dancingviolets.com/media/pdf/LymeDisease.pdf

I think that starting SLOW with naturals (like not with Samento first-thats a power house herb) and switching every month or even more frequent is key too

cats claw/samento

garlic

teasel root

nutramedix - cumanda/banderol

andrographis

artemisinin - babesia

astralagus

similax

oregon grape root

echinacea- that one is good

oil of oregano

carnivora

then detox -cannot stress that one enough.

You're about to ditch the meds eh?

"Cure" as we know it is impossible at this point. We are aiming to be in symptom-free remission after killing as much bacteria as possible.

In this General area of the forum, there is a sticky at the top labeled Success Stories. Check it out. And read the Lyme facts section, too. A lot of great info in there.

The theory behind the vit. D thing is that most of us have high D levels and Marshall recommends cutting it out to get them normal - to regulate our D. I got mine tested (believe me, I'm poor, so it was fairly cheap) and my D levels are practically non-existent. My LLMD has me on 2000 IUs a day for now to see if the supplementation will help get it back up. Regular normals of D are supposed to help regulate energy and pain management. ??

Anyway, I don't know why they say we're high, maybe most of us are and I'm the exception? The sickest ones of us are not out in the sun much, I suppose lol or getting great nutrition.

Some of the members here say that the blood type diet, and going gluten-free are helpful. to eliminate dairy. Eat this, not that. It depends upon your sensitivities. apparently a lot of people are sensitive to gluten. The Lyme Disease Solution by Dr. Singleton contains an anti-inflammatory diet that I think would be beneficial if you can stick to it. I would say aim for as many whole foods as possible. Protein and veg, plenty of water. diet tough for me, too, especially w/thyroid issues, but now that I'm in treatment for that, too, I'm expecting to see some improvement there...

Canuck, I love that PDF ... page 9 is the one that lists the herbs, I think.

Everytime I go to the ER they make me pee in a cup as they think I am highSmile

brain fog makes them judge EVERY time!

Sorry, couldn't resist Zoe

My 'down' time starts about midnight when the last child falls asleep, and I will take what I can get as I am delirious at this pointSmile

Something about how the D makes a small portion of a secosteroid that's converted into 'D125' that can convert into really high amounts , spiralling out of control, that can be detrimental to folks with Lyme because it is cell wall deficient bacteria- and our immune system cells can become little unrestrained factories producing more of this D125 then more immune suppression- more favorable living environment for Lyme bacteria so it's a vicious cycle

I want that test and knew it was cheap- just another thing I 'didn't get done.

Man- putting that on my list.

THE PDF--RON!!! He sent me that.. I think that article is one of the BEST most concise I have seen yet. Really impressive and jam packed with all the right stuff- even studies and proof about sexual transmission/children with Lyme via pregnancy/etc- amazing!

LOL, tell me about it. It took me a few minutes to even realize what you were talking about. heh, jeez... Smile

I found that PDF on lymeinfo.net in their alternative therapy section. I like that web site, it was one of the first ones I visited when I was diagnosed. It's a big link database and I learned a lot there. The nurse that wrote the article used to work for my doc. As a matter of fact, it's mentioned in there that they tested one of the more popular cat's claw tinctures (but ahem, doesn't mention what kind...) and found that there was a low amount of the actual herb in each dose. Well, no kidding! How many plants can you stuff in a small bottle? Smile She does back up the use of barberry (Oregon Grape Root) as a natural antibiotic, so that's pretty neat reading, too, because some of us here have used it w/success.
