Help! Oprah needs to hear about Lyme this week!

This was posted by a member of the Yahoo Lyme support group:

People!! Today there are ONLY 204 entries on the site, barely better than the 150 people who wrote in to a recent question about toilet paper!! We have to do better than that!

Forwarded from Open Eye producer Kris Newby:

"Oprah is deciding whether to do a show on Lyme THIS WEEK, and we need to fill her comment board ASAP. According to the show producer, emails directly to Oprah will NOT be read; you need to post here:

Or turn off spy site blocking. If this link doesn't work, try copy & paste rather than click]

Having Oprah feature Lyme disease will help the new bill in Congress and it will pressure the new IDSA panel to do the right thing.

Can we please ask you to post (again) asking Dr. Oz and Oprah to do a show on UNDER OUR SKIN, the documentary that exposes the truth about Lyme disease?? (There are only 204 posts up there now. Note that there is a 200 word limit. The important thing is that you post a few words about your personal story, not how long it is.

Here is how:

Here's the link where you can post a message if you're already a member of Oprah's community.

http://tinyurl.com/bqo8vo

If you are not a member of the Oprah community, you will need to sign up first:

click on this link to sign up:

https://www.oprah.com/mbr/mbr_new_profile.jsp

Once you have filled out the appropriate info -- easy stuff, name, username, email address, birth year --then you will get an email to your email address: You'll get an email from Oprah's web people sending

you an activation link that you will need to click on in order to get started. Then you can click on the above link and post your comments.

I know this is a busy time for Lyme patient advocacy, but the Oprah show's national exposure could save thousands of lives and buoy up all of our individual efforts.

Thank you again for your help on this matter.

Kris

Under Our Skin"

PLEASE take the time to write...just a few minutes of your time can make a huge difference for the Lyme community!!! As you know, we need all the help we can get! Thanks! --Artmutt

Thanks Bettyg! Looks like a pasted copy so am sticking the links in so it's easy for some to follow (I know, but sometimes we need to do all we can to get this done!)

guys read Betty's note as to where the links go, just adding them.. I really hope everyone does this. I have posted about 8 times myself so -that number is disgustingly low. We are all spread so thin, but if anything were the most important, she has the most influence at this point, sad, but true

Betty I am going to post this on the Lyme groups on facebook and myspace unless someone else here uses myspace - not even sure if I have an active account anymore--volunteers for that one? Please?

Done-Facebook- Kathy Fowler herself posted on one group and I re posted on the ILADS group site, it's just as active as the Lyme Disease Awareness.. Was encouraging to see her there and I appreciate her bringing this to the frontlines

Hi, unfortunately Ms. Winfrey's schedule doesn't allow time to read or respond to the message boards.

If you wish to contact Oprah or her staff, or send in a show idea please click EMAIL US from the Oprah.com drop down menu.

Additionally, members can submit show ideas by clicking the 'Be on the Show' link from the Oprah.com homepage.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi all,

Just saw this looks like we may be barking up the wrong tree with just posting. Looks like we need to do what is mentioned above to make a show request. I will try this route?

I got that too from Harpobear when I 'snuck' in when not able to email Dr Oz initially, I did that x 3, and Dr Oz x4, THEN, all the 'replies' or 'form' emails I get, I reply with yet another pitiful Lyme story just so they don't forget us... With a little taste while being desperate at the same time of course!

I feel we are being ignored but we have to just keep trying, you never know, she may surprise us!

i feel since KRIS KRAFT, UNDER OUR EYES staff member, PERSONALLY TALKed to oprah's staff member ... that staff person knows the MOST RECENT news!

kris kraft hasn't posted any updates since her initial post, and she would have.

Bettyg and Canuck, I am so sorry, I didn't mean to step on any toes. I did search for "Oprah" before I posted, and didn't see anything, but I obviously didn't do it right...ugh. I am really new on here, (lame excuse) and not very skilled at this!

I'm sorry, I got carried away by the urgency, wanting people to write Oprah this week, but I should have done a more thorough job check of the links, as well as double- and triple-checking to see if anyone had already posted the information.

So, I goofed big-time! I'm really sorry, again. I will definitely be more careful from now on. Thank you both for cleaning up my "mess." And thanks, Bettyg, for posting the information earlier, in a more user-friendly way. I admit, I can be a spaz when I am passionate about something, as you can see here. Tongue

Take care you guys, I wish you both pain-free days. Smile

Artmutt, you can't step on toes here, not what this place is about.. Everyone is understanding and having people from all walks of life, old, young, no matter the education / research/background, we could care less! All are welcome and as long as no debating or bickering goes on, then more heads are better than one... So thanks for joining. It's urgent, we have several duplicate posts here about this and other things, repeated many times.. It's okay, happens all the time.. We're all spazzy and passionate so don't ever be afraid to post or ask anything at all!
