MDJunction to me

aTinaL"To me, Mdjunction comes down to motivation. The support and information I have found here motivated me to take a very proactive stance regarding my illness. This led me to find medication and doctors that are giving me my life back.
More important than even the motivation, though, is the friendship I have found at MDJ. I have made some of the best friends of my entire life right here in this group. Even though most of us have never met, it feels as if we have known each other for years.
If Angels walk among us, and I believe that they do, most of them are here at MDJ.

you're right... CD57 is truly a Lyme thing. you're right.
Was diagnosed with Autonomic Disorder, POTS, Interstitial Cystitis, and Fibromyalgia. True story is I have late stage Lyme which has caused these things. Just began the fight in October 2011 (have been full-blown Lyme since Sept. 5, 2010), and WILL be victorious! Positive bands: IgG 41 and 60; IgM 23 and 41. CDC positive!

Not a doctor, not anyone of any legal standing... just someone on the search.

OK thanks, do you have any more insight as to what the CD 57 test represents/means?

low cd57 can also be due to toxins from mold exposure
I am not in the medical field and anything I say is simply my opinion and should not replace the advice of your doctor.

Lyme and Mold exposure leave behind biotoxins that can create a low CD 57 result...

I have IBS...as stated before...and have had major gut issues for nearly the last 10 years...

Lyme basically mimicked Celiac disease for me...at least symptomatically...

That profuse sweating sounds as if it could be Babesia...which is a common co-infection...malaria like...

Have you tried going Gluten Free??? That can often be a trigger for the pain and cramping...even if you were tested for gluten allergies...and tested negative...doesn't mean that there is not a level of intolerance...

Dairy can be an issue too...as can certain veggies and other foods...like processed foods...foods with refined sugars...

Lyme or not...sounds like you need to make some dietary changes...challenging...but not impossible...

I would strongly suggest making a request here for an LLMD referral...and if you want to go alternative...you can PM me too (zip code works)...I am compiling a list of alternative practitioners...so I may have some to add to what the ladies here have...

Hang in there

Christine

zroberts - Lyme can affect the vagus nerve, which controls much of the gastrointestinal tract.

Though I'd had Lyme for decades with progressive symptoms, it was a massive health "crash" with big time digestive issues, chronic cough, difficulty swallowing, major fatigue, and a host of other symptoms that sent me on a 19 month crusade to find a diagnosis.

FINALLY I found a doc who figured out it was likely Lyme. So many of my symptoms resolve and flare now in cycles. But it's better than having all of them all the time. And they are progressively lessening.

Bottom line: yes Lyme can have a big effect on the GI tract - and it does so differently for different people. Genetics play a large part in how the body reacts to Lyme, which (in part) accounts for the variation of symptoms.

Another thing to check into is co-infections. With that much sweating, you might have babesia also.

With a CD57 that low, yes it's likely you have Lyme. Lucky you to have an ND who was smart enough to run the test!

If you would like info on LLMDs in your area, please go to the Doctor (LLMD) Request forum, follow the instructions, and we'll send you information. Best of luck!

I am not a doctor, just a patient striving for recovery and hoping to offer support to others, too! Many blessings to you!

there's no easy test for mold in your body.... if you think you have or have had a mold exposure, you can start to educate your self

you Can test your home though, if you get to that point

you can start by reading Dr. Ritchie Schoemaker's information on his websites

when you request a LLMD you can ask if any in your area are trained in biotoxin illness/ mold

Thank you so much!!

You guys are amazing, I appreciate all the support.

I have been on a gluten, dairy and sugar free diet for two months already.

It hasn't resolved my issues by any means, but I'm sure Id be ever worse than I am now if I were on this diet.

You are MOST WELCOME...

It can take A LONG time to heal on that diet...The first time I went 100% gluten free...it took 3 YEARS for my guts to heal...and I stupidly started eating it again..but in moderation...and I did tolerate it for a while (another good indicator that it was not Celiac)

Now...I don't care to even go there...but I do have the occasional bite that MAY have gluten in it...so I have special enzymes specific for dealing with Gluten intolerance...But I really do try to stay away from it...it along with the Lyme led me to IBS...and there is NO food I could ever want that could make me want that pain...

Hang in there...
