so tick bite 5/11/2012.. doxy sense then. I feel better everyday.. does that mean the worse is over? I felt like complete POOP for a few weeks but now am finding my strength and endurance ??? Is this something I can count on or am I setting myself up for an unexpected "herx" which I don't really know much about?? ANY opinions are welcome... Smile

Hi,

It sounds like you have been lucky, caught the tick bite, got the right treatment quickly and ARE feeling better.

Just speaking for myself, I was ill for three years before I even heard of Lyme, another year for diagnosis and finding a knowledgeable doctor. Since then I have had a (very very slow) steady improvement, but I still would not say my strength, energy and endurance feel anywhere near normal (3 years of treatment).

What I would say though is that you'll now be really aware of any tiny symptom so if you do have future problems, you'll have a high chance of being able to nip it in the bud pretty quickly.

If you are concerned, there are some herbal antimicrobials or immune-boosting supplements that might be helpful in killing off anything that might be left, and giving you some peace of mind too.

Good luck, I hope you have beaten the Lyme!

You're lucky you caught this early!

In my case, if that's when I got infected back when I was 5 years old then I had lyme for 22 years which is NOT fun. (I feel sick since I turned 19 and never felt fully recovered again but I am fighting for that now!

Diagnosing and finding lyme early assures in most cases a full recovery.

I probably contracted Lyme Disease and other tick-borne co-infections when I was 4 or 5 when I found two ticks stuck on my right side of the neck. I went un-diagnosed until adulthood, developed severe symptoms suddenly at 19 and I struggle with them to this day.

I personally think there is denfinatly a chance to herx again. From the things burrowing in and then you killing those.

Are you on any form of cyst buster, because that is really important or you are just pushing the lyme into a cyst form.

You are very lucky that you caught it early though, most of us have been sick for years so it is really hard to say how you are going to be.

But the best advice I can give is treat atleast 2 months after the last of your symptoms are gone.

I am not a doctor, what advice I give is from my own experience and things I've learned through others.

My impresion is the longer you have it (Lyme) the longer it takes to get rid of it

I think you are lucky. But I'd push for another month at least of ABX just to be sure!!!!!! read some posts. so many people catch it early, don't treat enough and then are sick again in 1-2 years.

You need to keep treating. If you have been on doxy since the tick bite, then that is about 6 weeks worth of treatment. I have been told that treatment should be from 3-6 months, to totally kill it! My husband was put on doxy for 15 days and a shot of Rocephin, and "got well", or so we thought. 7 months later, he began getting very ill. Didn't realize it was lyme until 6 more months went by, so are now dealing with "chromic lyme". You can't be too careful when treating it. Longer is better in my book! Hopefully, doing this will kill it all, and you can avoid the chronic version!! So happy for you!!
