Hi,

I'd appreciate any thoughts. I'm supposed to finally add in flagyl after 8 months of doxy and antivirals.

Annoyingly, I got a yeast infection so I have to wait a bit longer. The question is how much longer? My Dr. Told me to stop all meds for a week and take 3, 100mg diflucan then wait the rest of the week before re-starting with flagyl.

Oddly, a nurse from the same office called me not knowing someone had already gotten back to me and she said i should take 8-16 pills every other day. I went with the 3 day in a row, but ive got to say that was strange getting different advice from the same office.

ladies, have you had this issue during abx treatment. if so what were you told to do?

I feel cautious about starting flagyl (a notorius yf causer) right after treating an infection even if it feels like its gone.

i am planning on taking oil of oregano and probiotics as soon as i get back home (am out of town).

suggestions welcome,

thanks

Hi Rebecca,

I have a history of really bad gut problems, heartburn etc.

I stumbled across a super probiotic.. it's kind of pricey but it completely repaired my gut.. After 20 years of trying all sorts of probiotics!

It's called vsl #3 you can google it

It comes in two strengths, 225 and 450 billion live bacteria.. It really helped me tremendously and it worked fast.

Best and Good luck,

Matt

Thanks Matt. ere you able to take a course of it and feel better long term, or do you have to keep taking the probiotics continually?

Ive heard varying things on if they actually 'take hold' in the gut.

I have systemic candida and I was on diflucan 100mg every day for 4 months.

Now I'm on an herbal called Amazon AF from Raintree Nutrition.

I also take Probiotic GI made by Pure Encapsulations. I get it from the Emerson Ecologics website.

I take 4 Amazon AFs per day and 2 Probiotics together before bed.

Hi Rebecca, i also did exactly 8 months on doxy and i started Flagyl, on my 5th day. Omg another thing, how do you know you have yeast infection? Is candida the same that yeast?

Sorry i am having a bad day, and now wondering of candida and yeast... i should get tested for this? I have white tongue, but dentist says its dental plaque... and well as i dont trust more in docs, and i dont even feel they pay attention to what i say...

Lenabubble, did you do some test for systemic candida?

Hi Azuleja,

I believe systemic candida is much rarer than a yeast infection. yes candida is the same as the most common 'yeast' infection culprit, but you can get a localized infection that is more easily treated too.

If the problem is oral, and you don't trust your dentist- you could see a doctor and get a tongue swab to check for thrush. You could google oral thrush for images to compare, if you're brave. Again, thrush may not = systemic infection, so hope for the best.

Good luck

R
