After fending off a minor allergic reaction to amoxicillin all week with around the clock benadryl, I have all of a sudden become covered from head to toe in itchy pink spots. I guess I have to go get this taken care of. I hate the ER.
Dxd March 2012 with Lyme, Babesia, and suspected Bartonella, after suffering for 4 years, and possibly having it even longer. Same as most others, I have suffered with a long list of terrible symptoms.
Also have POTS, RA and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Working with a LLMD.

you must go...The reaction is getting worse...They will give you other meds for this. Are you staying out of the sun, and using cool water when you bath???

I hate the E.R. also but you must go....

Will be thinking of you, I know how bad this is...And its NO FUN....

I went to the ER. They gave me steroids and more benadryl. Also suggested the Pepcid that someone here had also recommended to me yesterday. It's a taper pack of steriods. I guess you do what you have to do...

I just hope this doesn't set me back with my treatment. Everytime I was on a steroid pack before my diagnosis, exactly 3 months later I was flooded with horrible new lyme symptoms. Any chance that being on abx for the next several months (at least) will keep that from happening?

I do think I may have to start looking into supplementing my abx with a lot of herbals.

Tell your LLMD about the steroids asap and maybe s/he can suggest some immune supporting supps or herbs.
Feels like everyday I'm alone. Not because I don't have any friends around me at the time, just because no one understands what I really feel like everyday.

I pretend to be happy so I don't have to explain myself to people who'll never understand.

Normally I would say that the abx need to be doubled...to help kill the replicating bacteria...but you are already having issues taking your meds...keep trying to find a way to take them...

Beeincharge, so sorry to hear this has been going on.

Have to say that I went through a similar rash during my Lyme treatment, but in my case, it wasn't a reaction to the antibiotics. It was due to either bacterial or viral die off and systemic effects, according to my LLMD.

I kept going on treatment and it did go away. Not saying this is the case with you. Discussions with your LLMD are definitely in order. Might want to ask him/her to check for chronic viruses also, if your LLMD hasn't already.

My LLMD add viral treatments and it did seem to help.

I hope things get better for you soon!

Best wishes

Thank you for this information. Iren- I was wondering if it was possible for viruses and bacteria to have been caught and suppressed in my system by the lyme all of this time, and now perhaps they are coming forth. It makes sense to me. I started a new thread on opportunistic infections. I believe you may be exactly right. It is still a scary thing though.
