Hi all.

I had an appt with my regular internal med doc today. He is the one that kept giving me psych meds, stating all my symptoms of LD was due to depression/anxiety.

I gave him a copy of my Igenex lab results and also brought him a copy of Dr Burrascano's guidelines.

He said he doesn't believe in the results of my testing, due to the fact the the WB through Quest was negative.

He gave me the old "if you look into any disease long enough, you will find yourself having all the symptoms of that disease and be careful with the treatment by LLMD"

I don't know what to think. I guess I need to find a new regular doctor, but how do I find one who is more open minded?

He would not take the guidelines I brought, said he had read them before

He wished me luck with my treatment. Oh, and that funny crunching sound I am hearing in my right ear is an ear infection.

I also spoke with my LLMD this morning and he is starting me on a new antibiotic tomorrow. I think it is Azithromycin but I am not sure.

Anyways, just feels yuck that my regular doctor still is not believing me.

Yeah...my primary doc was convinced I was crazy. I left him.
Feels like everyday I'm alone. Not because I don't have any friends around me at the time, just because no one understands what I really feel like everyday.

I pretend to be happy so I don't have to explain myself to people who'll never understand.

That's all your choice, at the first time if you can feel that Doctor can't understand you, dont choose him, find another one who seems he can solve your problem. Good luck!

It appears as if so many primary doctors just refuse to believe!

Apparently, it takes some sort of revelation or first hand experience in order for the light to be shed and make them believers.

My primary doctor believes that the thirty days of Doxy should have cured me. NOPE! Still battling.

You would think they would have some compassion.

Now, if you were to go in with the notion that you have Fibromyalgia, or depression, or anxiety, or CFS, they would probably smile and start giving you scripts.

Am I correct?!?

Been there done that...and have shoved it where the sun don't shine on those types of docs...

Learn key facts...

The pathology of the bacteria...the 3 forms of it...facts that they probably do not know...

OH and always remember...to REMIND them that the WB by regular labs follow the CDC guidelines...WHICH IS FOR REPORTING AND TRACKING ONLY...NOT DIAGNOSIS...and emphasis on that...

As far as finding another doc..Call offices..and tell them that you have a chronic, recurring infection that you are seeing a specialist for...but you need a regular doc for the regular things...

But you want to know ahead of time if this doc is open minded...because you will not tolerate being treated badly because of what you KNOW you have...

I have found that in many cases if you can walk in and come off as educated and well read...and don't loose your cool when they start down playing your dx...that some times they do listen...

That is what happened with my primary...she listened and got educated herself...so that she could help me after we moved out here...

My "EX" primary care thinks I'm a crazy attention seeking paranoid hypochondriac. He asked me the past 4-5 times I went in to see him, to find a new practice and then said he wouldn't continue to be my doctor. He never even addressed the reasons I was there. Just said, "I hope you will seek psychiatric help and find a new doctor to care for you", then backed out of the room and shut the door.

The last time I went in was because I wanted to tell him the reason I had been having so many problems over the past few years is because I have been dxd with lyme disease. His response: "I'm glad you found a new doctor, good luck" -- as he backed out of the room and shut the door.

Oh the names I have for that man...

Dxd March 2012 with Lyme, Babesia, and suspected Bartonella, after suffering for 4 years, and possibly having it even longer. Same as most others, I have suffered with a long list of terrible symptoms.
Also have POTS, RA and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Working with a LLMD.

Thank you for your responses!!

It was so frustrating, he had the WB that Quest did up on his computer screen and the results from Igenex in his hand and asked how is this possible to have a completely negative test and another with so many positives.

I tried to explain about the CDC guidelines, etc, tried handing him the ILADS guidelines and his face completely shut down.

I felt dismissed.

Why can one test be completely negative and another have so many positives? Because, it is a complex disease!

If it were easier to understand, there wouldn't be a problem in finding a doctor!
