I'm considering buying/ building a sauna for detox. I'd like your opinions on the two different types:

1) far infared saunas that heat up your skin using far IR waves.

2) traditional saunas that heat you up by heating up the air in the sauna.

I think it would be easier to get a far IR sauna. But, I am a bit concerned about concentrating far IR waves at my body. Are there health concerns with this technology that any of you know about?

Thanks in advance

they both work, IR works much faster. It's a consideration of volume's of tissue heated AND length of time you can maintain a sweat. Metals start to release around 25minutes into the sweat UNLESS you take a good ammount of vitamin C some say + trisalts. Which gets the detox started around 7 minutes.

IR heats tissue 1-4 inches into your tissue and doesn't heat the air to the same extent that a dry sauna will to attain the same sweat making it much easier on your heart and lungs.

With any sauna "heat shock proteins" is the key term that your releasing to fight your infection and re-mineralization needs to be taken very seriously because if you deplete your minerals you will be in a worse state then whatever your current state is now. Magnesium is of key importance because everything getting detoxed attaches to magnesium.

On building your own I haven't bothered because I can buy one for the same price as I can build one. Good luck though!

on IR "danger" besides the sweating minerals out you are in good company with far infrared. Example fire gives off infrared and the suns rays during the morning and evening put out higher ammounts of IR which are necessary for plants to produce chlorophyll. In our bodies it charges our mitochondria. I think rapid occilations in power of any EM can lead to danger and infrared is the terrahertz spectrum "terror hertz?" There are some heaters that do not do a good job of producing clean IR or may break and still produce heat some not in the far IR spectrum and can lead to boils on the skin which happened to me with a thera-sauna which I used to install for people and saw go downhill in quality.

mystic --

be careful which type of wood the sauna is made from.

My brain is not cooperating tonight. But... I know pine is dangerous - emits toxins.

I think Poplar is one of the safest woods for a sauna....

Not to contradict...but......I had a chance some time ago to look into all this.....

traditional sauna, has helped some, in it's own ways...they are big take up alot of room you can also buy an IR sauna that way too.....

To help with the wood...question... I beleive the good wood mentioned by most is the Hemlock.....and yes it is a pine...other pines and woods are not as good....makin' a cheap unit.....but U pay more....

In the beginin'...I was lookin' for a big sauna...was gonna custom make it in the only spot my house could handle it....I gave up!

I bought the "personal(portalbe) IR sauna" on ebay.....less than 150$ now..!!

IT IS THE BEST.....BEST THING I EVER DID!!! along with the ACV.....

I looked at it this way...TRY that FIRST! this way...if it does not work out for you in some way...you have not spent thousands you don't have!

best to all

Wlk-)

I guess I was just concerned that total IR coming from the sun is about 50% of the spectrum. Far IR from the sun is therefore probably about 15-20% of the spectrum. So, is it really wise to subject yourself to concentrated Far IR?

But if I can't find any negative reports, and so many people benifit from it, I'm just going to go for it.

Wlk - Great idea about looking on ebay. What is ACV?

I'm glad you didn't find any negative points.....and I say GO FOR IT!

Heck, I'm sure we've wasted money on things in our past that didn't do a thing for us...I think truely this is worth a shot! my best to you!

the ACV....stands for Apple Cider Vingar(Braggs).....

I do the ACV 2hrs before bed..4oz water...heated...shotglass??? of ACV and a touch of honey.....drink.....

Then in the mornin' I do the Sauna right away.........

Look....what the heck do I know.....it all has helped me in long and short ways...so that's my speal....

Mystic- ACV is apple cider vinegar (yuck- makes me throw up). Anway it restores the ph balance in your body.

As for the sauna, I have a stand up IR. I love it and it was the best thing I spent my lyme fighting dollars on. I use it when I have a flare- it causes a herx by killing bacteria with the heat/energy. I use it when I herx- and it relieves it by sweating out the toxins.

Drcareaboutit- I think I met you in D.C. a few weeks ago at the rally, yes?

Take care all.
