I know I am one of the lucky ones who has insurance, so I dont mean to compalin, but does anyone know of a service that can assist with all the paperwork?

I have 100s of pages of bills and correspondence from my insurance company that makes no sense. My mother has been handling it for me - with my lyme brain, I look at it and I become overwhelemed.

Its just getting to be too much and too confusing for her and nothing seems to match up.

We called the insurance company and they were no help at all.

Any suggestions?

Laurie...Do your providers file directly with the insurance companies?

So many times, the billing service sends you a bill even though the provider is working on the filing.

If you maintain a line of communication with each provider, they will be able to tell you whether or not you bear any responsibility in the filing process.

You can eliminate all of the paperwork for those providers that handle it directly from their office - just separate those from the stack and create a file for each provider.

Then, crate a file for those providers that don't directly file and for any incidental items that need to be filed. Contact your insurance company for a claim form - which you may not need, since your already have an active claim.

Place your claim number on all of the bills that you're submitting, make copies and either mail or fax them to the insurance company.

When you simplify and organize, the stack looks a lot less threatening!

I hope this does some bit of good to you!!!! Smile

Thanks so much for the suggestions. We'll give it a shot. None of my providers take insurance or file paperwork so it's all on us. A few hospital stays in between didn't help! I don't know how insurance companies expect you to do all of this paperwork when you're so sick...
