How can my mother be so proud of me when I was a successful business owner, athlete, college grad, explorer, researcher, friend, helper, all- american male only to deny my situation.

I mean she watched me develop and was so ready to let everyone know about her son. How can she not see my bloodshot eyes and physical appearance and stamina slip away. How can she not truly know me?

She even hears stories from relatives of alternative healing experiences from lyme and other health issues. Why does she think it's all in my head one week and believe me another.

What prompts a mother from wanting to heal and nurture a child?

I could never be this way to a child of mine(if i were a parent).

I have lost total respect.

I'm not a doctor, my advice is from my own research, mostly off of the internet. Doctor's can be wrong, they are still just human, a healthy dose of skepticism can be needed sometimes.

I felt the same way for a really long time.

There were days were my dad would have to help me to and from the washroom that cant be more then 15 steps from my bed.

But he still did not believe.

I truely think they do not want to see you in all that pain, they are just in denial and it hurts to know that they don't seem to understand.

I am very thank full that my dad is coming around now. Since everything lyme related relied on him since I am only 16.

Even when I had a postive blood test, it took him over a month to come around. I fought for over a year, before I was acctually allowed to have the Igenex test done.

I think Education is the key. For me he did not realize how serious it is how bad it is if it is left untreated.

I think you just need to give it time, and keep hope.

I am not a doctor, what advice I give is from my own experience and things I've learned through others.

As a parent with 2 special needs adopted children, there are times when I just get so scared for them that I get angry and expect them to be "normal".

I think it is the same with a chronic illness. We don't want our babies hurting and sometimes it is easier to be in denial.

Give her some time, easier said than done, I know!

My hubby is having a hard time dealing with me and I am yet undiagnosed. He hates to see me in pain all the time, but at the same time gets frustrated and sometimes even angry that I am not getting things done around the house.

Hugs of understanding!

Try to sit down with your mom, and other family members, and watch a very powerful film titled, "Under Our Skin". You can rent in on Netflix. If this doesn't change your mother's perspective about what you're dealing with, then I don't know what to say.

Also, you could go to Youtube and watch the recent episode of Dr. Phil who did a segment on this topic just a few days ago. This too could help your mom have a better understanding about what you're going through.

Hopefully this will be helpful in opening her eyes to what you are going through.

Under Our Skin is also available on hula.com for free, I watched it yesterday, very powerful. I will be having my hubby and older kiddos watching this with me soon.

Yes I think I frogot to mention that in my post. I just made my dad watch it on the weekend (I think sorry brain fog)

But it is such a wonderfull documentry. I don't think I would personally show your mom the Dr. Phil thing it was not that great.

I rented the video out of my public libarary so that is also an option to look into.
