Hey guy's I still get dizzy but not nearly as bad as it was in the beginning and this time last year. What does everyone do or take for Dizzy, sometimes i feel like it's going to go into the heavy stuff and still scares me especially when i am out food shopping. it's embarrassing when you are out and it brings you to your knees, does the Lyme cause a lack of blood to the brain?

thanks

I don't know that Lyme causes lack of blood supply to the brain , other than we feel like it for (I do) the brain cells clearly don't function for me anymore that well.

If you get up quick, that too can cause more dizziness/vertigo. ALTHOUGH, not my case and I had CONSTANT dizziness and nausea REALLY bad and that was actually my first consistent problem that I could deal with no more, leading to a year long struggle for answers, then another 8 months to be 'heard'.

I do know that it's different for everyone, but antivert/meclizine (now over the counter) is very good for that and nausea, of course phenergan/promethazine, zofran, even vistaril/hydroxyzine. I would get it more when my allergies flared up but never had classic 'allergy' symptoms- just the terrible nausea and being dizzy and yes, bringing me to my knees.

I also will note that sometimes the Lyme aggravates problems already present due to most of our general lack of immunity- inner ear problems, sinusitis/already mentioned, TMJ, TINNITIS, etc.. Sometimes a simple decongestant (mucinex/guifenisen sp) will help get that fluid out while taking it with an antiemetic/nausea/dizzy medication.

It's tough as for me I didn't have the 'signs' but my head was full of fluid. Mucinex and mucinex D will say ''' chest congestion' but it's GREAT for head congestion and many docs will prescribe it- its an OTC med too, and if your heart can handle it, do the D during the day (pseudo phed) for the 'drying' affects.

Another med for dizziness/vertigo is Valium as it is given to many with that continuous problem, and it helps!

I know that's alot of info but I hope you can pick through my rambling and see if something hits home.

One more thing- what about your sugar levels? A lot of bases to cover, just curious.... Good luckWink

One of my main symptoms is dizziness. I do take Meclizine, which is now sold Over the Counter as Motion Sickness II by TopCare. That does help a bit. I also get really blurry eyes with the dizziness, and the Meclizine really helps clear up my eyes for some reason. I'm not sure why Lyme causes dizziness but I think it has something to do with the 6th or 8th cranial nerve...I can't remember. I do know what you mean about fearing the heavy stuff coming on. I wouldn't leave my house for many months out of fear of it. But then, you just realize that you can deal with whatever happens and you can't live in fear. I hope it continues to get better for you because there is nothing worse than living on your own personal roller coaster ride each day!

I second that and it is awful. I hope you do see some improvement, any questions don't hesitate to ask. I have been curled up on the floor dizzy, room spinning like when I first tried RYE- that's whiskey in Canada, Crown Royal, seventeen years old.well I never could tolerate alcohol thank goodness and overdid it as is my style.. NEVER AGAIN, anyways, I have had hours straight of that awful spinning roller coaster feeling with this disease, and now can only blame a disease and not a substance....Sometimes, I wish it were the opposite!Wink

Yeah it's horrible isn't it? that's why no one can understand like another Lymie the things we go through. I was a pretty self confident guy and to leave the house by myself now is pretty scary.

Peace

I hope this may help even one of you...I got extreme dizziness after taking a new abx (leviquin) which I would never take again. After much research it seems that different abx and/or illness can loosen up fluid/linings inside the ear canal and that will give you the room spinning until you clear your ear. You can look up bpv(benign positional vertigo) to read about it. There is a quick fix of a head turning move you do to clear your ears and it worked for me,dizziness is GONE!! I did it a couple of times over 2 days and it is great to find a simple fix for once. You tube has videos showing people doing the ear maneuver. Watch it and give it a try,it is worth a shot and I hope it helps!
