This rash started on Monday. At first it was just on the inner part of my elbow and not itchy.

Yesterday I was in the sun fishing and noticed it started spreading after that. It has now moved up and down my arms and is pretty itchy. I haven't noticed it anywhere else.

Also I have been taking Mepron, zith and septra for the last 4 weeks. Thanks for any help.

I will try and post pics.

~~~Hello Imedler,
~~~It's probably Lyme Complex induced migrating rash. Many of us have gone through this.

Are you on doxy? You didn't mention it, but I thought I'd ask. Doxy and the sun do not mix (even UV light indoors).

Just be certain it isn't a reaction to something you are taking...I get rashes that come and go, but usually within hours. I had one that looked similar to yours only on my hands and it was from the doxy/sunlight. It ended up blistering, scabbing, and scarring. Is it on your left arm? Perhaps from driving in the sun? Maybe I'm completely off base, but just putting it out there.

Good luck!

Good luck.

Agreed on the doxy- I forgot one day and played golf in the sun on Doxy and cam back with bumps on my face that I still have to this day. They key is that you were outdoors- check your meds for sun sensitivity and that might be your answer.

Not on doxy. Haven't been for about a month. Still waiting to hear from llmd. In the meantime took some Benadryl which has at least helped the itching.

It has spread to my lower legs now too.

Also thank you for your replies.

OK, but there might be other meds you are on that are also sun sensitive. If not, just know that rashes are a common occurence with Lyme, especially if you are subjected to outdoor conditions. Good luck, I hope it goes away- if not, a local doc in the box can give you a strong dose of Benadryl and likely get rid of it.

Oh I feel your pain! I've had something similar to that. It's been a while, though. I didn't even remember until I looked at your pics!

Sadly, I cannot say what caused or fixed it. Well, I'm sure it had something to do with the Lyme or Bartonella... I wasn't in trx for it when it happened either. So I guess that is a little light shed.

Of course, it CAN be from trx as well, I am positive of that. Some meds will cause either the Lyme or a co-infx to flare. This may be what's going on, but let us know how you're doing and what your LLMD says.

Because it *could* be from a med and not a good reaction.

ONE MAJOR THING: Skin issues can also be possibly telling us that our livers are in trouble. What are you doing to detox?

(The info below is taken from my welcome letterSmile

DETOXING

There is also the issue of detoxing regularly. Bb give off neurotoxins throughout their lives. When they are killed, they release everything in them, called endotoxins.

It's like a tiny atomic bomb going off every time one of them dies. These neurotoxins are one of the reasons we feel so sick. Nausea, headache, and flu-like symptoms are just a few ways we feel these endotoxins.

So when you kill them, you are bound to feel worse. This is called a Herxheimer reaction (or herx for short).

It was named from the guy who discovered it, which is why it's kind of a weird name.

Detoxing is of utmost importance.

1.Epsom Salt baths are by far the most widely-used detox regimen. 2 C ES in the bath water. Soak for 20-30 minutes. It brings the toxins out of your body through your pores.

I also put 2 T freshly grated ginger in a tea ball and put that in the bath too, as ginger helps open the pores and increase blood flow. So more toxins can get the heck out.

2. Drink water (lots!!!) with freshly squeezed lemon . Lemon also is a terrific detoxifier.

3. Take Milk thistle and Dandelion (comes in a capsule form, many times together in the same pill) every single day. This detoxes the liver, which is on overtime, with the meds and Bb and trying to keep the body's toxicity level in check.

A stressed liver is not good. So taking this every day is EXTREMELY important.

4. Taking Chlorophyll or Chlorella (the kind with broken cell walls) is also very important. It binds to the toxins that can be moving around in there, and ushers them out of your body.

If there isn't a good binder like this, once the toxins are in the intestines, they can be re-absorbed which won't help anything at all. I order mine from Swanson’s.

5. Burbur is an all-over body de-toxifier. I got mine from NutraMedix/Natural Healthy Concepts online.

Hope this helps!!

Lauren

Was diagnosed with Autonomic Disorder, POTS, Interstitial Cystitis, and Fibromyalgia. True story is I have late stage Lyme which has caused these things. Just began the fight in October 2011 (have been full-blown Lyme since Sept. 5, 2010), and WILL be victorious! Positive bands: IgG 41 and 60; IgM 23 and 41. CDC positive!

I've had itchy elbows with bumps (on my ankles, hips, shins, also). Insane itching. I've also had it for months and months at a time, then have it go away. This was years ago.

I took azythromycin in Nov 2011 for 5 days for a bad upper respiratory infection/cough. My mysterious rash started to return, and the itching was getting worse each day. December 2011, I had flu like symptoms (now i know this was a herx from the z-pack) and had my second Western Blot.

Bingo, lyme. I suspect the rashes are caused from bartonella.

When I was started on Jan 4 with doxycycline, my terrible elbow rash slowly started to dissipate. By the 3rd week, it was gone.

Here's the kicker, I went on Ceftin on March 7 (different class of abx than doxy and mino, which had subdued my rash.) March 12, 17, 22, or every five days, I've had some sort of itchy symptom.

Today I caught myself itching my elbow, new bumps. I think this all may be bartonella flaring.

Now, I'm wondering if I can add doxy to my ceftin. I think the doxy will stop the rash.

Hmm, I know my llmd said that she thought I had bart also based on symptoms and that we would be treating that next after this babs tx is over.

I've also noticed I am running a low grade fever. I haven't had one of those since a few months into tx last year. before that I had them for months and months. The doxy and amox finally got rid of them.

I wonder why they are back now? I've also got the dizziness and head/neck pressure back too.

Ugh, this all stinks!
