Cheryl, the only reason I asked - the only reason I was concerned - was that I thought it could indicate something more serious. I wondered if it was related to a coinfection or if Lyme messed with my thyroid. Since I wrote this post on 7/3, I've found that it could be a thyroid issue and that I need to see an endocrinologist.

I'm very happy for your that your weight loss wasn't related to something else - another serious problem brought on by borrelia.

I never mentioned this before but i also have weight loss and i do not need weight loss, before Lyme i was 6-0" 177lbs now i am down to a scrawny 165lbs and hate it,I am hungry all the time and eat like a horse and my weight seems to have steadied out but i am not gaining like i want to and a bit worried about the biomat giving me that 30 min workout when i dont want to burn calories..i have so much physical work in my agenda its ridiculous cutting grass cutting firewood all the housework meals etc, and to add to the mystery i also was diagnosed with high cholesterol, i read somewhere that Lyme feeds on cholesterol or something wierd anyone know more?

Burrascano mentions that the pancreas is affected by Lyme and it can cause weight gain and diabetes in late stages.

In the beginning of my illness, I was terribly nauseated and lost a lot of weight from not eating much. Now that I'm on doxy, I've started gaining. I hope that isn't a constant thing, though.
