I was wondering if this is related to people with Lymes or if it's just something that I have that is completely seperate.

The feeling is a very mild sore throat when I swallow. It sometimes only lasts a few hours or a few days and then dissapears gradually.

It might be gone for a month or two, and then come back for a day or so. I know it's the "same thing" because it always feels the same. It only feels slightly sore when I swallow. It never feels intense. There's never a cough associated with it, etc.

I notice that it happens more often if I'm lacking sleep or if I have a lot of stress.

They say that you can put everyone with Lyme in a room and each person will have a unique symptom.

I don't have the sore throat. I do have other symptoms though when I lack sleep and stress out such as a prominent heart beat.

After I get a good night sleep it disappears.

I get the sore throat often and yes I do think it is lyme related. I also use to get a swollen esophagus years ago so when I would swallow food would go down really slow and it would hurt.

That has been gone for 4 years and yesterday it came back. They say when you treat lyme disease you have to peel away layers like an onion and I think I'm to that layer that is bringing back this weird symptom.

It is very bothersome and makes eating miserable. I went to the doctor for it years ago and they said it must just be a sore throat. I've learned with lyme disease regular doctors are worthless and the weird symptoms have to just go away on there own because doctors don't know how to help lyme patients unless they are a LLMD or ND.

good luck with the sore throat. I feel your pain.

I use to get the sore throat a lot. Now it is very rare. I also use to have chronic strep. The sx do come and go and change over time.

For over a year I have had what feels like a sore throat or cold coming on, but it never does. Is this what you are feeling?

Kind of like that very first sign of a cold when you initially realize "oh no I'm getting a cold", but then it never comes.

Anyway, my LLMD says it's Mycoplasma.

Weasy: that's a good point. Everyone seems to have different symptoms. I guess that's why it is so hard to diagnose.

tizmo: what were your predominant symptoms? What are your symptoms now?

vickyj56: I haven't gotten this feeling in my throat since early summer. I had a stressful week this past week and it seemed to make it come back. I wonder if a person is infected with something, it stays forever, but when a person's immune system is strong, it supresses the symptoms.

lymeinmich: when you say initial symptoms...do you mean like feeling a slight malaise/fatigue? I think I've gotten that a few times. The mild sore throat feeling also feels like the initial symptoms of a cold. When I used to get colds, they would start mild and then become very strong. But with this, it is always very mild and then dissapears in a couple days.

I do get a slight sore throat from time to time. It's not one of my most frequent symptoms.

My throat does not hurt until I try to swallow - that's when I notice that it is sore.

I did have a slight sore throat for just a short while during my worst herx.

I get it too, along with that "I have a cold coming" feeling, sort of a bit warm in the skin, tired, maybe a headache as well.

I always thought it was a form of herx, or the immune system kicking in to fight something off. It usually lasts a few hours, or max 24 hours.
