I am 14 years old and I have lymes disease. My periods seem to be much worse now that I am on the medication. Yesterday morning I woke up with blood running down my legs which was odd since I had a pad on. Did lymes do this? Also I seem to be losing a lot of hair, like I have bald spots and that scares me. Is that normal too? I'd really love a friend on here to talk to! Thanks!!

Sarah.. Welcome to the group Wink

Hair loss is definitely a common symptom of Lyme Disease. I had it pretty bad in the beginning of my protocol and as the herxing eased so did the loss of hair.

What I understand from those who have gotten past Lyme Disease is that the hair does grow back when all is said and done.

Sarah, sorry to hear of your issues. I've not had any issues with the hair loss...but many here have talked of it.(we all seem to be effected in differnt ways-sometimes)???

In case you are not aware...and lookin' for more answers...there is this site...

http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/teens-with-lyme-disease- discussions

There is also "search" in the upper right corner...and that may direct you to more direct answers to questions you have...

best to you, hope you find the answers you are lookin' for..

WLk=Cool

Anything I post or respond to comes from a Lyme and Bart victim himself. I am NOT a doctor. I do my own research for ME...I may share my findings and will post them. They are for general talk and vent...If a group leader feels the info is worth saving somewhere, they are more than welcome to do with it as they like. Wlk=)

No problem Wink Of course you're not crazy!

I mean unless you're talking to inanimate objects but then that's a different story Laughing

I wish people looked at me as if I had cancer!! In fact, I wish the CDC would look at all of us as if we had cancer, then maybe things would be a little different.

Regarding period issues... I have an incredibly heavy period. You might look into trying tampons. I know youre young and its a scary thought, but talk to your mom or some buddies about it. Its not as difficult or as bad as you think.

sarah you need to get your thyroid tested!!! i agree that lyme can affect all of these things (hair loss and periods) but a lot of times it is because lyme is in your endocrine system and can affect your thyroid function. hypothyroid can cause hair loss and heavy flow and many other symptoms. please ask for tsh, free t4 and free t3 tests and treat as necessary!!

Sarah,

benniferobin is right - get your thyroid checked. Also, get your hormones checked. Sadly Lyme can hit these things hard and it can mess up things like periods, cause hair loss, etc.

*hugs to you*

Betty’s suggested posting guidelines:

Many of members have neuro lyme, and it is hard to read long solid block text and be able to comprehend; example, me, 42 yrs. neuro chronic lyme, so we are UNABLE to comprehend and read. Thank you for helping us help YOU

please post in short paragraphs like you see below or look at a few other posts, but we neuro folks need them short.

1-2 sentences MAX per paragraph and hit ENTER TWICE to doublespace between each paragraph. We’ve lost our comprehension skills to read solid block text.

we neuros lose our train of thought if the sentence is broken up in the middle; so please keep an ENTIRE sentence together as ONE. hugs

For easier reading, please edit your post. You can break up your longer paragraphs into smaller paragraphs. Please hit

ENTER key twice after each paragraph.

Go to left hand corner; click edit send. Then go to bottom and click SUBSCRIBE TO THIS DISCUSSION.

Thank you for posting in a manner that makes it easier for all to read and help others.
