I started IV Rocephine 6 days ago and am experiencing a weird side effect. I am noticing some dizzyness especially when I am laying down at night or if I am bending over during the day. If I lay on my back and then turn to either side, the world starts spinning. The 'attack' lasts approximately 10-15 secs. Has anyone experienced this? I am not sure if this is from the rocephin or if it is unrelated.

I've experienced the same symptoms that you described with ABX and not on ABX. In my case, I think that the lyme bugs accumulate in your neck, and that's what causes it to be stiff, which can lead to your symptoms.

To prevent these types of episodes, I stretch and exercise my neck everyday. This keeps your neck flexible, and the muscles strong.

It could also be positional verigo (BPPV), which means a piece of crystal (calcium) may have broken off in the your head, and landed in your inner ear causing these symptoms.

Hang in there, and hopefully it will go away on its own.

I wanted to report back just in case another person is looking for an answer to this. The dizzyness did go away but not until after 2 weeks on the treatment. Now, I am only left with the headache Smile

~~~Hello Helen,
~~~Your dizzyness is simply a symptom of your Lyme Complex and can happen on or off abx. It is not directly related to the Rocephin but a "side effect" of the Complex and coerced by speeding up the healing process and the die off/Herxheimer effect.

Hi moore -

As waxby said, this is Lyme symptom and probably not dependant on what med you are on.

I do notice it more during herxes, but it can pop up whenever. Just wanted to be clear on this so that you are not surprised - it may return.

Don't panic if it does, it may appear on and off for a while, or it may be gone for good. Eventually, hopefully, treatment will be successful and all or most of your symptoms will resolve.

It will take time, though. Until then, we are here for you!

All the best1
