MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." Hey everyone! Some of you know that the past couple of weeks I really seem to have a dark cloud over my head somehow!

I am on augmentin for a sinus infection and the infection produced by an ingrown toenail. Of course the augmentin within two days had me laid out in bed herxing. The sinus infections no better and the toe infection is only that much more aggravated.

I had the ingrown removed Friday afternoon and was also given topical antibiotic cream. I have been soaking and treating as directed.

Today I missed work due to the pain, the infection seems to be getting worse not better. So the doctor wants to see me tomorrow. He suggested pain pills to take the edge off tonight. Been at this point in the road before not good....

Presently I am unable to walk right, put my foot in a shoe, or put any kind of pressure on it even my bed sheets and comforter hurt!

So alternatives to pain pills would be greatly appreciated as this may be a long ride in the next week or so. Going to grab an ice pack now.

P23 and P41 bands positive, IBS like symptoms caused by possible candida, herbal and antiobiotic treatment, gluten free, candida diet.

I do not have a medical license so my suggestions are limited to personal experience and research. Also I am not a lawyer so if I offer advice relating to school issues it is only from my experiences as a special education teacher, my own disabilities real or Lyme induced, and research.

Hi Laura-

I'm sorry you're in pain!!Sad

Arnica will help, as will Devil's Claw, curcumin, boswellia, MSM, white willow bark..with the white willow bark, you can't use if you're on blood thinners..

Epsom salts will help with the nail..

I hope this passes quickly for you..Kissing

You're in my thoughts and prayers..

peace-kim

All of my advice comes from research and personal experience. I strongly suggest that you each check with your doctor for approval before changing or adding anything to your treatment.

Peace . . . starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. When our community is in a state of peace, it can share that peace with neighboring communities, and so on. When we feel love and kindness towards others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace. And there are ways in which we can consciously work to develop feelings of love and kindness. For some of us, the most effective way to do so is through religious practice. For others it may be non-religious practices. What is important is that we each make a sincere effort to take our responsibility for each other and for the natural environment we live in seriously.

rowergirl...may i suggest you put a pillow under your sheets.

so the pillow keeps the heaviness of the sheets and bedspread off and away from your foot.

Kim, the doctor suggested against Epsom salts as they may have attritubed to the infection.

Neska, thanks for the pillow suggestion!

Also should I continue taking my Lyme supplements with the high dose antibiotics? I don't want to lessen the effect since I definitely need all the possible benefits.

Does he mean it's part of a herx? Usually ingrown nails are from yeast, so I could see that I guess..I was thinking for the pain and the antiseptic therapy of it.

Listen to your doc!!Wink

I just hope you feel better and find something that works..

I would definitely take a reduction in pain. No he was saying that the epsom salts may have added to the infection load. I am now doing hot water with a few drops of betadine to sterilize the water and my foot.

Man, I would vote for the pain pills. Pain is just bad for our immune systems, but I understand your concern about pain meds as well. We get put in a tough situation. Nabumetone is a good pain reliever and is not narcotic.

I just had my appendix out 4 weeks ago and I got off my lyme abx because I felt it was too much for my body to fight both those battles at the same time. So, I gave myself a break for a week to heal from the surgery. That was just my personal decision.

I hope your toe heals quickly!

the silver is good. it will sterilize the water. good to have when camping and as far as our weather conditions are, everyone needs silver in their cabinet; never know when you can't drink the water.

i would like to use the silver on everything but all i ever see is the water on top of my skin....does the skin absorb it?
