I am really starting to think I don't have LD. I have been taking 400 mg of Doxy daily, and have not had a single herx. Also, I tested positive on the 1st of 2 Western Blots....NOT for co-infections or Lyme, but Mycoplasma Pneumoniae. The 2nd Western Blot from Igenex came back Negative for Lyme. I don't know what to think anymore. I know that the high Igm I have for Mycoplasma Pneumoniae could be causing a lot of the issues I have been having, so it makes me wonder, do I even have Lyme Disease??? I just hate the thought of being on long term antibiotics if I don't need to be. I am really getting frustrated and feel atleast some people have postitive tests for Lyme so why don't I??? Could my mycoplasma pneumoniae that I DO know I have cause me all of these issues? Not Lymes? |

As far as I know, I am LD neg. (Tested 5x's, neg on 2 CDC & 3 Private) I also have Mycoplasma Pneumonia, like you. Regardless, if you are LD pos. or not, you still need ABX's. I know for me, Doxy did not make me herx either. I was just put on ceftin & started herxing immediately. Chronic MP is just like LD in the fact that it can display the same symptoms, as well as go into cyst form. Two things you need to be aware of when dealing with MP, it will screw up your entire endocrine system, as well as reactivate HHV-6 in a person. Even if you do not have LD, per se, I would still recommend seeing an LLMD when dealing with MP. Non LLMD's will treat you just the same as if you have LD when it comes to ABX & MP. Raven- How does one even contract Mycoplasma Pneumoniae? My endocrine system is MAJORLY screwed up right now....I have had a sore throat for over a month now, no sign of going away.... and what should I look out for with HHV-6 reactivation? What are those symptoms? I will stick with my LLMD for this. |

Amberm - I'm not an expert but I'll tell you what I know & think.... Can people get MP & not have LD? Yes, we are living proof of that. Can a person with LD have MP? Yes. If not at 1st., over time they will be exposed to it & their immune system will not be strong enough to fight it off. How do you get MP? You name it!!! It is a bacterial infection that can be spread like a common cold. MP can become systemic, infecting your lymph nodes, endocrine system, eyes, skin, organs, brain & CNS just like LD. Any form of Mycoplasma can cause major immune disorders. It also can reactivate HHV-6, which is Roseola. HHV-6 is 1/2 of HIV. HHV-6 kills the NK cells, HIV kills the T cells. This will cause you to have a below 60, CD57 w/o LD or HIV. As far as symptoms, MP & HHV-6 mimic LD. You can also develop skin lesions on your face (cheeks/chin/forehead) This is caused by Roseola Demodex. Basically... mange!!! I would get a good LLMD if you don't have one already & have them test you for all Mycoplasma infections, HHV-6 & a complete endocrine panel screening to see what damage has been done or not. If your only on Doxy that will push the bug into cyst form, to the best of my understanding. I'm not a Doc... In order to Herx you must be killing them. Your treatment may not be aggressive enough. I am on 4 types of ABX. All I have to go on is what has helped me in the last 9 months ( please check out my Diary page). Ok, so finally got more specific info about my Igenex results: Not "doubting" so much anymore. My doc said I have 2 potential IGM bands. Indeterminate for 83-93, 41 Positive, 39 and 41 IGG- 31 and 34 can be false positives for Mono, which I tested for a high past infection of, as well as high past infection of Mycoplasma Pneumoniae. Based on these results, does if DEFINITELY sound like Lyme? |
