Just got back my bloodwork from this weekend.

This is after 4 days on Mepron and Azith with IV Rocephin.

My white blood cell count was 40% over the upper limit.

My red cell count was 15% below the lower limit

and my Blood sugar levels were 2 points above normal.

My lyme doc was worried to a degree, but also enthused about the treatment. She was telling me the white blood cell count was indicative of my body geared up to fight an active infection.

And my low red count was indicative of the mepron killing off infected red blood cells.

I guess she was trying to tell me the treatment is working, I just have to have the will to keep fighting it. Right?

Anyone else become anemic whilst fighting babs with Mepron and Azith?

I was anemic at the beginning of treatment (before abx) from babesia. A product called Blood Builders helped- and I am no longer anemic...I would ask your LLMD about it.

It is common for Babesia or treatment of Babesia to cause RBC counts to drop.

My red blood cell count was also low from the Babesia ..I wasn't anemic, but my blood sugar was always a little high from the yeast.

Artemesia was what I used for the Babesia, that and the A-BAB..so I can't say about the antibiotics..I'm sorry..

Jackie, that sounds like a great product!

I hope your doc can get things back in balance for you..

All of my advice comes from research and personal experience. I strongly suggest that you each check with your doctor for approval before changing or adding anything to your treatment.

Peace . . . starts within each one of us. When we have inner peace, we can be at peace with those around us. When our community is in a state of peace, it can share that peace with neighboring communities, and so on. When we feel love and kindness towards others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace. And there are ways in which we can consciously work to develop feelings of love and kindness. For some of us, the most effective way to do so is through religious practice. For others it may be non-religious practices. What is important is that we each make a sincere effort to take our responsibility for each other and for the natural environment we live in seriously.

You know...I've just realized that everything about this disease is confusing and troubling. Smile

Normaly, these blood results would be considered "Bad" and action would be taken to remedy the situation.

NOW...these results are "Good" and we just need to make sure it doesn't get completely out of control.

Feels like I'm leaning back in a chair and balancing hoping I don't go all the way over. Or I've gotta sneeze when I need to pee.

No wonder we lyme types are anxiety ridden.

Hi Exlpodo -- oh, you just gave me a chuckle! You are so right.

Trust your LLMD. I had blood taken while I had an upper GI virus recently, and my white blood cells were only a couple of points elevated. They should have been so much higher.

It is good news that your immune system is working Smile Keep plodding ahead, one step at a time. I'm really glad that your doc is encouraged. I know you've been having a hard time.

I am not a doctor, just a patient striving for recovery and hoping to offer support to others, too! Many blessings to you!

Any information offered is just sharing my experience and friendly advice, NOT a prescription. You should use your own judgment and discretion when making health care decisions.
