I started a new job right after Thanksgiving in a Health Clinic working as an MA ( medical assistant). When I interviewed I told them up front about my Lymes and my boss who interviewed me was more then kind and asked questions and really makes me feel ok about having this and working. She is very open to helping me out.

I am on a rotating schedule so I dont always work with the same nurses and PA's. There are however a couple that if i mentin ANYTHING about Lymes they tune me out, or change the subject...I would not care so much but I feel with a few of them think I am making things up. I know big surprise people thinking it is in my head. But recently my joints have hurt a lot and I am pretty tired. One PA saw me rubbing my knees b/c they were swollen and hurting. When I told him why he made a weird face and said " why do they swell? Havent you had the Lymes treated?"

I guess I am just not sure if I should express my feelings to my boss, or just tough through it. I really enjoy what I do at work and there are a lot of nurses and Pa's who are supportive. One PA even gave me this Juice to drink called MOMEVIEVE sp? It seems to help with the energy. So it is not all of the staff but I dont want to feel guilty or push myself to hard b/c I dont want to complain around certain people. My health comes first to me, but I am known to keep quiet if i am feelng bad b/c it is such a horrible feeling when people dont believe you anyways.

So...should I say something to my boss? Or deal with it? I have also thought about talking with the PA who has been very supportive to see what she thinks...thnaks for any suggestions.

Kendra

Hi Kendra:

I get the same thing at work. Some people understand it and some just look at me like I have three eyes. As long as your boss knows what is going on is all that matters. Next time just say "I'm not feeling up to par today" that is what I say.

Sorry you are going through this...

Julie
