Has anyone endured having Hypoglycemic reactions while having a fever? I just learned that a spike in temp. can cause this to happen. I've had a fever on & off for about a week & I have had several hypoglycemic episodes.

I know how to control the hypoglycemia once it hits but is there anyway to keep it from happening beforehand? I haven't been eating sugar & just very little carbs. I don't want to have to keep bulking upon carbs to control the reactions?

Any thoughts.... thanks!!!

hi raven,

what specific symptoms have you been having with your fevers? is it still running HIGH?

bringing you back up to top for those going thru fevers. i used to get the waking up just drenched nightly.

1 thing about my being up late at night, my blood sugars have been running DOWN as far as 70 or under! i was on 4 diabetes meds; they took 1 away.

raven, are you a diabetic too? have you had a A1C 3 mo.blood sugar run to make sure you aren't one?

best wishes to you; hugs/prayers.

Hey Raven, yes my blood sugar seems to drop when I have a fever - I get all shaky & weak, and have to lie down.

More protein, fewer carbs seem to help. Also check your meds - if anything has a decongestant in it, this will make it worse.

Sipping water with an electrolyte mix in it can help too, I think. I use one sweetened with stevia. Can't remember if you can have that or not. (name is Ultima) Seems to help keep me more stable.

Sending you hugs! Hope you can get it regulated!

I am not a doctor, just a patient striving for recovery and hoping to offer support to others, too! Many blessings to you!
