I think I am writing this more to cry out, but also maybe to glean from you not-so-newbie-searching-for-answers-people.

In case you're not familiar w/my story... Nutshell: Think I have Lyme, any person on here who has read my story has confirmed in their own personal opinion that it is Lyme. Yard infested w/ticks 3 years ago.

Even had a confirmed tick bite when I was 6 or 7. So this may be a 28-yr-old illness or a 3-yr-old one. Either way, I gotta do something to fight this.

I have an appointment w/a LL-naturopath, but it's not until Nov. 30th. They are in our network for ins. which is GREAT.

I've been thinking hard-core about seeing a LLMD instead, and come to find out, there is a very prolific one (PM me if you want to know) and he's only an hour away from me!

I made an appointment with him... Get this. He works 5 days/MONTH. Yep. And I was able to get an appt for Oct 13th. WAY sooner than the LL-naturopath.

Here's the conundrum: I don't know yet if he is accepted through our ins. and the fee for the 1st TWO visits, which they combine in billing, is $1,500. Usually they ask for it up front.

We have NOTHING close to that. I just yesterday appealed for disability. I have a unique situation in that I actually carry diagnoses that are in line with disability. (Autonomic Disorder and POTS)

I am struggling because I can't just give up the thought of seeing the LLMD. We would ask my husbands parents for help... but that is asking A LOT.

They have helped us so many times before and are always more than generous. But We've been married 11 years now, and to still be asking for financial help is really a difficult position to be in.

What's worse is that my neuro put me on a new heart med today and it's making my entire head tingly and touching it makes it worse.

My heart is still not doing what it should when I lay down, either, which is frightening me also.

I guess today is just one of those days where I'm stuck at the intersection of "I don't know what to do" and "No one is around to show me the way." Needed to get it out there.

Thanks. Sad

Was diagnosed with Autonomic Disorder, POTS, Interstitial Cystitis, and Fibromyalgia. True story is I have late stage Lyme which has caused these things. Just began the fight in October 2011 (have been full-blown Lyme since Sept. 5, 2010), and WILL be victorious! Positive bands: IgG 41 and 60; IgM 23 and 41. CDC positive!

Not a doctor, not anyone of any legal standing... just someone on the search.

I can't advise on the LLMD because I can't afford to see the one in my area. You have to do what is right for you and your family.

all I can do is offer support and let you know you are not alone. I am making slow progress w/out an LLMD. Haven't looked into a naturopath yet.

You might also look or ask around about a chiro in your area that does homeopathic treatments. I found one and he's wonderful.

Let me know what I can do for you.

My Dr doesn't bill insurance but gives me the reciepts needed to file the claim. I get reimbursed from BCBS.

Maybe if you had to borrow the $, you would be reimbursed and could pay them back fairly quickly?

I cannot seem to make decicions lately either?? It drives me crazy, because I was the decision maker in the household. I just always feel like I do not know what to do. Another weird symptom I guess but I don't know cuz I can't decide Smile

Thanks Avs and Lymeinmich.

I appreciate your support more than I can say. I think I will ask my in-laws. If you pray, please be praying for me. I trust in God's goodness and that He will lead me in the right direction.

You're def. right about the leader/decision maker gene getting MESSED UP! It's ROUGH!

Lots of love...

Lauren

~~~Hello Lauren,
~~~We cannot stress this enough. Please, please, please find a way to see a PROPER LLDr or you will sink deeper and deeper into the abyss.

~~~Your Neuro or any other non-LLDr wiil be little to NO help and can even cause further damage to you with your Lyme Complex Dis-ease.
~~~Too many of us here have learned this the HARD way and are paying dearly. Pay now or pay MORE later!

Okay, so specifically, should I be seeing the LLMD instead of the LL-naturopath?

wisc, YES, LLMD.

i posted a very lengthy article tonight; go to top of support and look for 3-19-11 bioresources conf. in calif.

then click on link there to take you to lyme facts; you will learn so much; the most recent 6 months ago.

part of what you are asking IS IN THERE plus much more!! from 4 topllmds.

yes, ask relatives for money; sign an IOU, etc. that youhave every intent on paying back this money.

also go to top of support to my welcome letter; go down thru there looking for FINANCIAL BURDENS; tips galore there; print that out; mark them off as you try for help.

it's like marshall said; he summed it up perfectly.

yes, mitchell, you told me; right back at you my friend.

bettyg, iowa activist, group leader, llmd coordinator

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS! I called my insurance, and because there isn't another LLMD close by, I get to see my doc and he will be treated as IN NETWORK!!

And I only will have to pay around $100 to see him instead of the $1,500!!! SUCH an answer to prayer. HUGE relief!!!

There are certain things we just will never know unless we try, and certainly there are little silver linings on at least SOME clouds in this journey.

Take the time to smell a rose, and check on things even though you think it might not work. It might not, but then again, it might. Smile
