Can anyone suggest a Lyme shopping list ?

lol I am eating it seems the same things all the time. Eggs and a lot of hummus.

If there is anyone knowledgeable about what foods are good to get at the grocery store I would really appreciate it.

Hi transformed, here is how I shop. All of the following should be organic or all natural as often as you can afford:

- lean protein. Can include buffalo, chicken, fish (salmon, tuna, tilapia, etc). I can only eat beef like once a week, but that's me.

- RAW nuts and seeds - I do almonds and pumpkin seeds for snacks

- Stevia - no sugar sweetener - I use OnlySweet - all natural and one of cheaper stevias

- Greens - spinach, bok choy, kale, collards, romaine - fresh in salads, or sauteed or steamed

- mushrooms - sautee with greens

- onions - sautee with greens

- garlic (raw or powder) for sauteeing, etc.

- almond milk - instead of cow's milk for coffee, etc.

- oatmeal (old-fashioned) - some folks are going to disagree with this, but I find I need the fiber. Eat with stevia, nuts/seeds, fresh berries

Minimal fruit, shoot for low sugar, high fiber - go for 1 serving a day, max of 2

- berries - blueberries, raspberries or black berries

- cantaloupe

- apples

- fresh herbs - chop up to add to salads, sautees, meat, fish, etc. I usually have cilantro, basil, rosemary, chives in my garden, windowsill, or from store. This lets me avoid salad dressings, seasoning mixes with MSG (very bad!) etc.

- Lite Salt - Low sodium, but still gives you iodine

- ginger (fresh or powder)

- Ultima - like gatorade but no sugar, WAY better at balancing electrolytes, has stevia

- lemon or lime juice for salads, squeeze in water for detoxing, et.

- some sort of gluten free cracker - like brown rice snaps - eat no more than 1 serving a day (lets you feel like you ate carbs, without feeding yeast too much)

- organic apple cider vingar (with the mother)- on salads or in hot water as a tea, helps alkalize body

- vegetables - lots of preferably raw, green veggies, low starch are OK too

- cucumbers

- red, green, or yellow bell peppers - 1 serving per day because they are sweet

- cabbage

- carrots 1 serving per day only

- squash (zucchini is better raw than you might think!)

- asparagus (good raw!)

- artichokes

- avocado

- celery

-hummus

- bottled water

- whey protein powder (sugar and fructose and artifical sweetener free) 3-4x week in smoothies or mixed in oatmeal

- frozen berries or rhubarb for smoothies (don't add dairy - just ice, stevia, whey protein, etc)

- probiotics (refrigerated) - kefir or yakult - sugar free. I take capsules as well - 2 hours after antibiotics 2-3x a day

- Pure Protein bars (brand name - no soy or sugar) - for when I crave chocolate or carbs

** I try to base both lunch and dinner around green veggies, with at least one leafy green veggie for nutrients, and a lean protein.

Typical day of meals for me:

Breakfast - oatmeal with either nuts/seeds or whey protein, handful of berries. Stevia if needed

snack - almonds & pumpkin seeds or celery & hummus

lunch - leafy green salad with tuna or grilled chicken, other raw veggies & fresh herbs

snack - cantaloupe, berries or pure protein bar

dinner - baked fish with herbs, or grilled chicken with fresh veggies, or salad

- or sautee of fresh greens, onions, mushrooms, veggie with chicken

** note, I can't eat soy, corn, or cheese.

Hope that helps.

Schar crackers and snacks, bionaturae has a pasta line (it actually tastes like pasta not something else), pamelas bread mixes, chebe pizza stuff (crusts, mixes). The university of chicago celiac disease center will send you coupons and advertises for popular gluten free products.

The university has freebie baskets for those recently diagnosed with celiac disease, but they are will to help those with gluten intolerance also.

I explored health nut aisle at the giant near college tonight an hour from my house. I realized they carry about 200 gluten free products! I loaded up on all kinds of snacks and stuff.

Someone is my class tonight mentioned that she has been gluten free for two years so going to pick her brain too next time!

P23 and P41 bands positive, IBS like symptoms caused by possible candida, herbal and antiobiotic treatment, gluten free, candida diet.

I do not have a medical license so my suggestions are limited to personal experience and research. Also I am not a lawyer so if I offer advice relating to school issues it is only from my experiences as a special education teacher, my own disabilities real or Lyme induced, and research.

Hey Everyone,

Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly.

This is a huge help! I am excited to try new foods. I have been eating a lot of eggs and a lot of hummus because most days I do not have the energy to cook.

I hope this gets better=) Thank YOU!!!!

Hello to you. My diet program for dealing with Lyme ,over the last 14 years....has evolved into some basic understanding that come from common sense and necessity.

It was really difficult to establish a workable diet in the beginning because one of the 'educational ' foundations I exposed myself to was the books and protocol of Hulda Clark....and boy oh boy, if you know what she advocates its extremely oppressively restricting ...not so much about diet but about Lifestyle..... have all dental metal removed, eat with plastic cutlery, be exposed to No metal at all....use the zapper every day, as much as possible, take the wormwood formula...your vitamins all need to be 'tested; for 'contaminants' I mean I remember becoming literally paranoid that I couldnt eat anything, couldnt put a metal fork in my mouth, ....was worried that my apartment could have radon seeping up, the furniture was leeching formaldehyde, and on and on.... it was almost making me crazy . I was almost starving myself, because of the extreme protocol she was describing.

I finally took the advise of a therapist who said.....just Eat something! Anything ! and for one day ,dont worry about it .

From that low point...I began to just get back to normal eating.... I discovered that I didnt die from cooking in metal pans and eating with metal forks.... (Clark even said "dont toast your bread in a standard toaster because you'll pick up tungsten that way"

Its too extreme. But at the same time,I do understand what H.Clark is trying to teach people, about healing cancer, eliminating bacteria, and heavy metals, etc....I do think detoxification is very important....but it needs to be done in some way that doesnt involve going crazy ripping up your carpets and throwing away your furniture and eating with plastic forks and paper plates.

So after that initial freak out when I was sick in that first year....I settled down and basically ate normal food, and started taking many many supplements,as well as the ABX, the zapper, probiotics, and assorted therapies, like hot baths, colloidal silver, the zapper, etc.... at some point exercise became more and more important.

But for establishing a fair diet regimen....the most important ingredient diet wise was/is the probiotics and digestive enzymes because when you are using a zapper, you will be killing off the good gut flora along with the bad bacteria...and when you lose the good gut flora, you suffer digestive disorders, indigestion, constipation, etc etc.... so thats a big cornerstone for diet is the daily probiotics.

and in common sense, understanding that the main complication with diet and therapy is the digestive disorders....I would try to eat foods that are not too hard to digest.... pizza is harder to digest than yoghurt for example.

My main food as an allround best protein and best food is Whey protein powder. Dr. Mercola recommends this as well.

More common sense about bacteria disorders like Lyme.....bacteria, like cancer, thrives on sugar and that also means fructose, from fruits, all sugars....so I would eat fewer fruits , try to eat no sugar. etc .

and awful tasting things like grapefruit seed extract and oregano oil, would be treatments I drank down in water daily.

like the wormwood cloves medicine...awful tasting stuff.

but it helps.

I remember in that first year when I was most sick and for a few years after , I was taking about 70 pills ,supplements, a day....thru the day. maybe 30 different things. 20 or 30.... my supplement protocol included just about everything that helped heal illness. you name it...I was open to learning about it and considering it.

But for advise about diet, now, I would say...dont worry too much about the details of what to eat or not.....organic is better of course...but dont get hung up on stuff....other than the essential important things that Mercola always talks about like staying away from fructose and all sugars. minimize grains. never consume any aspartame and msg.high fructose corn syrup...very bad. processed foods, universally not good. butter is good margarine is not. etc.

get a water purifier..thats important.

But as far as specific foods that help in treating Lyme...I dont think there are foods as such...the herbal medicines, and zapper, and abx are for killing the bacteria. food?? wouldnt it be easy and nice if all we had to do was eat a bowl of oatmeal because it kills the lyme...??? too bad its not so easy.

The Zapper kills the Lyme.or at least makes it go off into hiding.

Ive been able to live and enjoy good health these last 13 years ...even if the Lyme 'only' went 'into hiding?' I cant say exactly whether Ive killed it off or it went into hiding or a combination of both...but my health has been good these last 13 years. and I credit the Zapper first for that recovery.

Dear Tablapp,

Thank you so much for you replay. It actually makes a lot of sense. I have been where you spoke about when the diagnosed me with other things and it literally drove me insane!!!

So thank you for that wake up call once again. I am curious what you mean when you say zapper. I am looking into getting a rife machine. Is this what you mean?

FYI, for those who are interested. The Pure Protein bars do not have regular flour in them - the only flour I can see on the labels are almond flour and peanut flour. So I believe these are, indeed, gluten free.

I have found them to be tasty and quite digestible, as well! Especially for anyone who is allergic to soy, like me. Smile
