Hello everyone -- new to the board -- actually never posted on any board but in desperate need of answers/help/advise. I have a laundry list of lymes related symptoms and been tested several times in past. Recently diagnosised with Fibromyalgia. This latest round of test I was reported negative by the doctor but I decided to stop by the office and actually get a copy of my test. While the report read negative, the IgM P23 band was present. When I called back they still said I was negative. Should I pursue with llmd b/c I've read that is specific for Bb.

Second question: also read that is one of the first markers but yet I've felt this way for about 2 years. Is there ever a scenario that you can only have p23 but not be a more recent infection?? Any insight/help/advise would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, I live in south/central new jersey so if you have any information regarding drs that you've visited -- good or bad -- would love to hear about it.

I'm not sure I really know how to answer your question other than by this... That is EXACTLY my story too!

I am going to a Lyme Dr. because I also fit most symptoms. I'm not sure about much except that I hurt & I am tired, & most symptoms fit me also. Good luck with your journey!

My family Dr. told me I had Lyme with only my band 23 positive and she gave me 30 days of Doxy. I then went to the infectious disease dr. who told me I was negative.

so I found a Dr. and the western blot he did was negative but he put me on a large dose of Amoxacillin for 30 days and is doing a urine test to see if any of the dead bacteria is present, I know you should see a Lyme Dr. and let them be the judge.

I wish you well, this disease sucks!

The test is flawed to NOT show the True numbers of infected people. You need a LLMD that will help you get well. I am Negative by CDC, but how can one be a little bit pregnant. You can't they are wrong and you still need to treat the type of virus inside you the right way. Antibiotics & detox will help, it has helped me tons I was in bad shape 8 months ago, but get better every week. Good luck & take care. i70
I am getting BETTER everyday ! Here's How http://www.mdjunction.com/diary/lyme-warriors-unite

drgmba -- 23 is specific for Lyme - see thread here http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/lyme-disease-support- forums/studies-research/1540224-dr-cs-western-blot- explanation-

Lyme Literate doctors (LLMD) will consider you positive for Lyme because they follow the standards set by ILADS, rather than the CDC and IDSA. CDC requires multiple bands (I think 4) to be called positive.

A single positive band, or a clinical diagnosis per symptoms & history is all you need for a Lyme diagnosis. The Western Blot tests for antibodies - positive on band 23 shows that you DO have antibodies to the bacteria that cause Lyme.

Please do yourself a favor, find an LLMD and get treatment. You really don't want to allow your Lyme to get worse.

Best of luck!

I am not a doctor, just a patient striving for recovery and hoping to offer support to others, too! Many blessings to you!

just one band is a positive for lyme disease. please go to an LLMD and get the proper treatment.

do not wait on this as this will progress and treatments will be longer.

we are all on here because none of us at one point got the correct diagnose and treatment.

Thank you all so much for taking time to respond to the post. I'm going to make some phone calls today. Do llmds typically order up more bloodwork or do they just go with the p23? I can get my primary to sign off on bloodwork while I'm waiting on llmd appointment. Do you think its worth the money to pay for additional testing at Igenex at this time or just wait for llmd?

Previous discussions I participated in:

I would def. get the blood work from your Dr. to take with you. I was at the same place with the blood work too and I waited to get into my Llmd & he didn't do the blood work with igenex but he is doing a urine sample through them.

I am actually going to give him a chance and go a couple times to see. I would wait until you find a Llmd and then ask them when you make the apt. if they want you to do it.

There are several test and the Dr. you go to may have certain ones they use.

Good luck!

Hi! I am new to this site and I just got results that say positive P23 and negative on the other bands. The test says neg for Lyme like you had.

I am going to try and find a Dr who will treat this as Lyme. Is that the correct thing to pursue?

I have had fatigue for a long time now and a rash on arms and trunk that comes and goes...but have had that for a few years... Has anyone had that?

Thanks so much and I see this site and all of you will be a blessing!

My test was IGG P23 positive. Is that Lyme?

Oh, I forgot to say I am in North Carolina. I think I contracted Lyme in Massachusetts.
