Hi all, I have been told by my LLMD for months that she thinks I have Bartonella (constant fevers after a year is one, as well as my cognitive issues, etc. etc.)

I have taken Rifampin with DISASTEROUS results and after two tries, I just can't take that one anymore. (Had horrific Herxing and only lasted about 7 days each time)

My question is, I tested positive for Lyme thru IgeneX last year but negative for Babesia and wasn't tested for any other any co-infections. (Didn't have the money for more tests)

Before I go through any more presumptive treatments for Bart or Babesia (which my LLMD ALSO thinks I might have), I'd really like to have a positive test so I know I'm on the right track. Perhaps it will motivate me to get through the horrific Herxing that I experienced that last time.

I really want to get the full panel of co-infections tested this time around, but have heard that Fry Labs is better and more accurate for Bart testing.

Has anyone heard this? I'd also like to re-do my Lyme test along with the co-infections at a lab that is NOT IgeneX and hopefully have a POSITIVE test again to show to my Primary who doesn't believe in IgeneX labs accuracy.

Thankfully I have a good LLMD who uses IgeneX, so that's not an issue.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

Thanks!

http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/lyme-disease-support- forums/tips/1007-bettygs-newbie-linksadvise-

ido know fry lab is cheaper than igenex; heard they are really good; never tried them.

my own has gone to igenex twice, florida lab now called something else...neg.for bart/babs; disappointed in that one for $$; and MDL in new jersey or area.

heard clongen is excellent inmaryland; don't know about costs.

Thanks Betty! I'll take a look at your link. Sorry I haven't responded sooner - my hard drive failed on my laptop 3 weeks ago and I JUST now got it fixed! Thankfully I was able to recover all my data! Phew! So nice to have my computer back! Smile Hope you are doing well.

Hugs!

Hi Sandie,

I got mine done through IGENEX, but it was expensive Sad

From what I've read - Babesia and Bartonella are very hard to test. Sort of like Lyme - all dependent on where they are in their life cycle.

I tested positive for Bartonella, neg for Babesia. But we will retest for the Babesia. I've read that you need up to 6 neg results for it to be considered accurate.

Otherwise it is still a clinical diagnosis.

Wish you luck.

Hi Sandie,

Though I tested negative for bart, I am being treated based on my symptoms and clinical eval. It is very hard to detect in the blood, especially since I went undiagnosed for so long ...

Hang in there and keep us posted.

Best,
