OMGosh, everyone!

When does it ever end?

Yesterday, I was wearing a pair of slipper socks with those little pads on the bottom that look like small buttons.

I noticed that the bottom of my left foot was hurting, right under the little toe, and where I also have a callous.

I figured it was caused by the callous, and it felt swollen, so I thought it was from the little buttons on the bottom of the slippers, combined with the callous, making it feel swollen and sore.

The callous is on the bottom of my left foot, straight down from the little toe.

Well, in the evening it really began to hurt, so I kept adjusting the slippers so I wasn't stepping on the little "buttons" still believing that is what was happening.

So, I head to bed and take off the slipper socks, and OMG: the area is completely covered in deep, dark purple bruise!

Freaked me out so bad I woke my poor son (who had to get up early for work today), but it was just that it came on so suddenly and I have NEVER experienced foot problems in my life.

I thought, "Is the callous so bad that it causing the blood to pool under there?" and all kinds of silly thoughts went through my mind, including, "Is my memory getting so bad that I dropped something HUGE on that foot and FORGOT?" lol!

I do not think any of the above is true, but from what I am reading, it COULD be either of these:

Bunionette (Tailor's bunion) OR

http://www.yourfoothealth.com/bunionette.html

Stress fracture (Jones fracture)?

http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00165

http://www.yoursportsdoc.com/pages subsections/sur_jones.html

Not sure about the bunion, because they said this caused swelling, but nothing about bruising, and I am not sure about the stress fracture, because I lead a fairly (okay heavily, lol) sedentary life style.

I do not recall bumping the foot or dropping anything on my foot (as I said), and this just came out of the blue!

This is just what I do NOT need right now, because I wanted to do NOTHING but work this week end, because I have only FOURTEEN week days left until my vacation!

People, I do NOT want to visit another doctor, I do NOT want to sit through x-rays...I mean this is ridiclous!

Not enough on "my plate" already? lol

Sorry for complaining, but I just really did not need this right now.

It couldn't have waited for about three to four weeks when I have more TIME?

(Why can't we plan our injuries around our busy lives, haha!).

Okay. I know the chances are very slim that anyone here has experienced this, but please let me know your impressions.

Do you think I can try the "RICE" method (raising foot, icing foot, etc) for about three to four days and see if it resolves?

OR do you think I should go right in?

I don't want to call the nurseline, because they always tell you to go in no matter what, because they have to cover their "you-know-whats." lol

What should I DOOOOOOOO?

Thanks for reading. Sad

Oh, and on the OPPOSITE foot is where my ankle constantly swells and feels like there is fluid under there and I get the joint pain there, too.

However, because this symptoms comes and goes without rhyme nor reason, I DO believe the right ankle thing is due to Lyme Disease.

That symptom disappeared for a LONG time and now has been back for about five to seven days.

Feels so uncomfortable and sore...so now I have issues on both feet and I HAVE to be able to WALK!

Yikes! Sad

Best Wishes,

Hope :)

The bruise is now spreading even more.

There is bruising on the bottom of the foot and the side of the foot, and now the circle of purple is spreading more on the top of the foot, right below the little toe, as I said.

I would say it is about two inches in diameter, like a circle that starts on the top, covers the side and completes on the bottom, if that makes any sense at all, lol!

Difficult to explain.

If I wasn't on my way out the door, I would get out my camera.

But, then again, I don't think anyone really wants to see my foot. haha Wink

Best Wishes,

Hope :)

Hey Hope-

When I started my treatment last summer, like you beginning yours right now, the whole top of my right foot spontaneously turned black and blue and I couldn't walk on it..

I had to cancel my appointments with my clients that day..

It lasted for about 4 days and went away.

I think you're just waking things up if your situation is like me, but I was doing heavy metal detox at the time, and we felt that it was that and whatever co-infection(bart) was attached to it.

I had the worst problems with my feet in the beginning, cramping and bruising..

Just be careful, go to the doc if it gets worse, and do the use RICE, ice was my best friend...so was my husband rubbing my feet..

It helped me tremendously to make sure I ALWAYS had some sort of shoe on, crocs in the house are best..

Anything flimsy, especially just socks, are really bad for your feet when you have problems with them, even without, docs say to never go barefot, bad for the arches.

Once you start getting those arch cramps, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I hope your foot gets better soon. Well, both actually!

peace

Hope: Tried calling you, call me when you get in.

I would see the Dr. regarding this. I remember I broke my foot in TWO places and did not even know it until I could not walk on it and it turned black and blue, almost purple...

I got home about an hour ago, and I saw that you called, Julie, but I had to run straight for the tub!

I got SO chilled, it was unbelievable!

It is a rainy, cold, damp, dark, and dreary day here in Minnesota...par for the course, lol.

Well, I got so chilled that I couldn't feel the tips of my fingers...as if it were -30 out there.

I had to go into the restroom at the grocery store and run my hands under warm water for ten minutes so I could continue shopping.

I really have to wonder why I stay in this state (well, I know: family, but I don't know if it is worth it anymore, lol).

Well, the bruising just keeps on spreading and it looks pretty wicked.

Right under the little toe, about the bottom half, it is a deep, dark purple. Looks like I am wearing a deep purple toe ring.

Then right under the ball of the foot that is directly under the little toe (where my callous is) there is a dark purple spot about two inches long and a half inch to inch wide.

The side is also bruised and swings round to the front, where there the bruising is about four inches in diameter now.

I AM going to take a photo...just debating if I will share, because no one wants to see my feet! lol!

I have to admit, I am a barefoot girl, and have been my entire life.

Part of looking forward to spring and summer is NO SHOES and SOCKS.

The most I will wear are flip flops, because I have no choice if I don't want black-bottom feet (which I always had as a kid, lol).

I have heard how bad this is, but I just can't help it. I hate shoes and socks! Tongue

However, it hasn't been warm enough for that, lately, so have been wearing shoes and socks except for one or two days and I usually wear socks or slipper socks around the house, because I get cold so easily, but I never wear shoes in the house.

I also just thought of something when Kim said cramping.

I was on the phone with my mom, day before yesterday, and I was getting the WORST cramps in my toes!

I rarely get any type of cramping in the feet, but when I do it is usually the toes and usually when I am lacking calcium or potassium.

Eating a banana or taking my calcium will usually help.

I am trying to recall which foot that happened with, but I do think it was the left foot (99% certain).

I have a feeling I am eventually going to have to go in and see the doctor, go through the darn x-rays, etc., but not only do I have NO time and have way too much to do, but I am truly not in the mood for more doctors! Sad

I just find this so strange, because I have never had feet problems in my entire life, and I certainly have done nothing too strenuous lately, lol.

Oh, and the ankle thing I did have before treatment, and it would "come and go" like it is now.

However, I do agree that treatment is causing many symptoms I did not have before, like my neck snap crackling and popping for one.

Julie, did you bump your foot or drop something on it or did it "just happen out of the blue?"

Best Wishes,

Hope :)
