Hello everyone

I just found your group and I hope no one minds me throwing a question out there.

Back in Late July of last year my now 4 year old (3 at the time) was Diagnosed with Lyme Disease after having VERY High Fevers for 10 days (103.8-104.9) and then finally breaking out in a Bulls eye rash...a week or so later we got the confirmation it was Lyme Disease for sure.

They treated him with 3 weeks of amoxicillin and told us he would more then likely be Fine.

They couldn't find the tick nor could they tell us when he had been bitten.

My concern now is that ever since dealing with this he has been getting sick a lot more (I would say he is sick 4 days out of every 2 weeks at least),

he complains of stomach pains, headaches and runs medium to high fevers (101.5-104.5).

So my questions to everyone here would be:

Can Lyme Disease have an effect of lowing your immune system even after treatment?

Is there a test they can run to make sure that the Lyme Disease was treated and is no longer in his system?

I have taken him to his Dr (new one since the original Diagnosis) and they don't even want to discuss it with us...we are in the mist of trying to find a new Dr.

My son is not in school, no one else in my house is sick most of the time he gets sick, he is usually home and not out shopping a lot with me to be exposed to many germs.

I just don't understand much about the Lyme Disease no one every really told us much

we have gotten most of our information on the web.

Thank you for any advice you might be able to provide.

this was SOLID TEXT in 1 paragraph; i broke up to 1-2 sentences MAX; hit return between each paragraph for us neuro lyme folks so we could read/comprehend; emphasized things. bettyg, iowa leader

Hotrod you son certainly seems to be still experiencing symptoms. Find an LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctor). The lyme testing needs to be rerun and reviewed by the LLMD.

I was just diagnosed in January and only getting effective treatment from my LLMD after seeing multiple conventional doctors.

Lyme can lower your immune system and make one more suspectible to other things. But Lyme also causes similar symptoms itself flu like, stomach issues, fevers, headaches and more.

One of the many reasons it is so difficult to treat and diagnose because it looks like so many other illnesses and diseases. I have been given diagnoses of migraines, tension headaches, arthritus, unknown stomach issues, and others.

I feel for your little guy! He is too young to have to feel such pain. I hope that you find something make him feel better soon. Good luck!

P23 and P41 bands positive, IBS like symptoms caused by possible candida, herbal and antiobiotic treatment, gluten free, candida diet.

I do not have a medical license so my suggestions are limited to personal experience and research. Also I am not a lawyer so if I offer advice relating to school issues it is only from my experiences as a special education teacher, my own disabilities real or Lyme induced, and research.

welcome caddy Smile

so sorry to read about your sick son with lyme disease still!

forgot...please break up your text like i did your 1st long, solid text paragraph; we neuro lyme folks can't read or comprehend things like that.

use what i did above as an example on how youcan help us as we attempt to help you. BIG thanks! hugs

i sent you my welcome letter earlier in a private message, left side, for you.

my welcome letter is also in mysignature link with hyperlinks to take you here & there.

please post in LLMD REQUST FORUM for your son.

in heading we need your son's age & state you are in,

please copy the above and paste it to your llmd request so we have more info to work from there.

the 1st dr. treating your dr. UNDERTREATED HIM, that's why his lyme didn't go away!!

infectious disease drs, idsa, treat from 1 day up to 3 wks. max, and YOU'RE CURED! BS; they undertreat and you end having chronic lyme which they don't believe in calling it post lyme!

DO NOT GO TO ANY MORE INFECTIOUS DISEASE DRS. UNLESS THEY ARE ON OUR LYME LITERATE MD LIST, LLMD, OK!!

also, print off these 3 links:

UNDER LYME FACTS in mywelcome letters:

dr. corson's 2 detailed articles on KIDS SYMPTOMS |& HEADACHES describe the entire body and how it reacts to lyme or co-infections/other disease ticks carry.

dr. burrascano's lyme treatment guidelines, 37 pages.

my heart goes out to you and your sick son; hopefully we can get you to a good KIDS LLMD in your area to get him into remission.
