I need some insight please. Just a little confused. My symptoms started in June or July of 06. I went to Houston, Texas. Got bit by misquitos and who know's what else. I love being outside. Then I came back and with in a couple of days I felt like I had the flue. Then 3 weeks later" just guesing here" I noticed a rash on my back with a clear center. I would get burning in my shoulders and arms and numb spots on my face. I blew it off cause other wise I felt fine. Then my neck really started to ache. I had bone pain in my neck. Then I developed anxiety. I went to physical thereapy for my neck. Then I went numb. This is a year after Texas. Arm's, legs, face, neck, and back went numb. Then they went weak. I got headaches and muslce spasms, upper back and neck stiffenes, fatigue, hard time falling and staying asleep, burning sensation in skin. I was told by an MD that I had an automune disorder or an neurological degenerative disease. But he couldn't diagnose me. How nice of him. Then I was diagnosed by an alternative MD. He told me that I had lyme. But he passed away. Soooo come to find out he diagnosed a lot of people with that? Some of my symptoms have gone away and improved. I still have muscle weakness in lower arms and upper back. I have a loss of sensation in these areas to. I don't feel pain or touch like I should. I get tired and dizzy sometime and just can't think striaght and pain in my shoulder blades. I still have stiffness in my neck and shoulders as well as pain. Knees hurt sometimes too. I'm almost certain I have lyme. But what if the MD is right and I have something else? Has anyone had this symptoms and did you get better?

I know it is so scary. All your symptoms could absolutely be Lyme. Did you get any blood work done? I say that with hesitation because the blood work is so unreliable that you can't hang your hat on it -- at ALL.

What people here will tell you is to find a Lyme literate doctor -- one who knows how to treat this.

My symptoms were Brain fog, dizziness, numbness in feet and hands, neck ache and stiffness, cheek felt heavy and numb, bottoms of my feet hurt, neck cracks all the time, muscle spasms, low grade fevers, eye twitch -- I tell you all my symptoms because they are so random and odd that this will hopefully make you feel better -- oh and I can not stay asleep for the life of me!!!! I hate that.

You need to get answers -- don't stop searching. You are not crazy!

I agree with debra! It really does sound like Lyme, and the big thing I'd say in the ND's defense is that Lyme is actually a clinical diagnosis. So, you really don't need the bloodwork to "prove" it, regardless of what many docs would tell you. It's great if you can get a positive on a blood test, but many docs will say it's a false positive, which is crap, too! If ever DO get a positive, you can BET it's the truth!

Anyway, don't get me started there! Given your history, the fact you had a rash, the tick bite, AND all your symptoms, it certainly sounds like the doctor was accurate. I'm responding after I got your PM and shot one back to your already, so take a look at the sites I sent you, and see what they all have to say. You may be shocked and in info overload by then, but feel free to PM me over and over with any questions you may have after you read them. I'm usually here at least once a day, if not more. I'm always glad to help out wherever I can.

I can tell you that there's a lot of "controversy" and crap spread about lyme. Too many people can't figure out the truth. But that's their problem, and it doesn't need to be made into ours. Get you a good doc, and get some care. Now, rather than later! Please don't wait, because I've waited 14 years to figure it all out, not on purpose, just cuz my doc didn't know what was wrong when I had a horrible flu 14 years ago, and I've spent all this time since sick off and on...My body fought as long as it could, and now I'm really sick. I'm finally doing a natural protocol, which I started only because I STILL can't get a doctor to listen to me about what's going on in my body (Hello? I live here every day!), and after 8 weeks, I'm really feeling better. Many of my symptoms are starting to fade. I'm not great, but I can finally start to feel like I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm sure there's still a long road ahead, but I know I'm not dying now, like I was 8 weeks ago!

*hugs*

Jen

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help.

I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

I was tested for lyme and it came back negative. My former doc looked at me like I had 2 heads. LOL. I might laugh at all of this someday. Then I found out that lyme disease needs a clinical diagnosis. So I'm going to go to an LLMD. Thanks for the encouragement.

Hi:

Well I hate to say this, but those are all the sympthoms I had when I first got lyme. I was bitten July 22, 2007 and within 13 days my neck and knee started to hurt, then I got the flu for 3 days (no flu that time of year here) then the awful burning on my uppper chest, numbness and bee sting feeling in my arms, legs, feet and hands...I was lucky as my doctor knew I removed a tick and started my treatment ASAP...Since I am allergic to abx's I only lasted until end of Dec 07 on them...

As of today, I'm feeling really good, I still have days where I get tired and my knee and neck will hurt a little, but nothing like before...

So, everything you listed I did have. Have you been tested via Igenex??? You do have to have a doctor draw the blood and you have to pay up front. Some insurance companys will pay you back a percentage some will not. Mine was 1080.00 and my insurance gave me back I believe 80%...That also included co-infections. If you just want the western blot its around 300.00 to 500.00 I think...

I wish you luck, I know how hard this can be when on one will believe you. I'm sure if I did not remeove the tick I would be in the same boat as you.

Julie

Me too!

I just thought I was reading my own list of symptoms! LOL

Get to another LLMD! You aren't crazy and if you DID have 2 heads...then at least they'd want to treat you! LOL

Sorry. My sense of humor is getting a little "noir"

Keep us posted!
