I was diagnosed Lyme IgG, Igm, Babesia Duncani, Ehrlichia positive on October 6th. tried two weeks of Mepron & Zithromax...so i know what this stuff can do my body and what it tasts like.

I beleive my 5 yr old son was born with Lyme.....

his labs just came back:

Igenex:

Lyme WB IgM 34,39=IND,

Lyme WB IgG 39 & 41= Positive,

Babesia Duncani IgM =1:20,

HME (Ehrlichia)IgG 1:40

LabCorp: result range

%CD8-/CD57+ = 1 2-17

Abs. CD8-CD57+ = 30 60-360

He has night sweats, bad dreams sometimes night terrors, fears, axiety, phobias, OCD behavior, mood swings, doesn't socialize well with other children, crying fits for no apparant reason, separation anxiety with Me (mom) & home.

Q: my question: how do you get medicine like Mepron & zithromax into a child that has a sensitive gag reflex? and is fearful about anything that gets into his mouth or face....like he feels he can not breath.

Q: are there alternative ways to treat him for these conditions?

Q: if this is neuroborellia does he HAVE to be on a IV?

Q: Are there Oral Antibiotics that cross the BLOOD BRAIN BARRIER?

Q:How do I tell him he will have to take medicine to kill some bad bacteria?

Q:What do I tell to my 5 yr old (with out giving him too much info that might freak him out)about what is going to happen?

I appreciate any direction anyone can give me.

Q: Are there ANY good pediatric Lyme Literate MD's in southern california? West San fernando valley?

All the best.

Joan

YOu can always ask for liquid form with flavor in the abx....

Try and sit him down and explain to him what is going on in a way he can understand and not be scared, I know that is hard to do with a 5 year old. Hard enough you being sick, a child, well that just breaks my heart....

Lyme will not win, we will and we WILL…

Joan...

This is a hard one - and I feel for you. I have 4 girls and there is the chance that I could have passed it - at least to 3...

So I will try to help a little...

As for abx - Zithro does come in liquid and I think Biaxin does too. Biaxin passes the blood brain barrier - so that is good...

As far as natural treatment and supplements - always in moderation, and under the care of a professional - but yes there are some things he can take...both natural and abx exist that cannot be taken by those under 18...so just becareful and find someone who knows...

As far as IV - well it depends on the person for the most part - at least IMHO...there are those who do respond best with IV - but it too comes with its own complications. I would say if you can avoid it - do so. work on changing his diet, I can give you some suggestions - PM me, and finding a abx/alt combo that will be suitible. At least that is what I would do - I am not a doc so...

As far as what to tell him - the more simple the better. My kids have seen some of the crap that I have to go through - and he sees it with you. he has it too, it is a part of his Normal Life, and if he wants to be able to do more things and feel better then he is going to have to learn to deal with his treatment. And this is something that the two of you are going to do together. Let him know the truth, this isnt fun, and doesnt always taste good. Are there things that he wants to do but cant because he is sick? Work towards small goals...taking a week of meds gets him a pizza nite - and then get a gluten free crust - there are good ones out there - and the two of you make your own pizza's...make a game of it. Small fun rewards - and when he is feeling better - maybe tackle something that he has wanted to do...

From the time I was little my mom always told me that it gets worse before it gets better - and sometimes I have explained it like a battle field. Maybe not the best association for a 5 year old...but its all I can think of for now.

I do know that there are good Ped LLMD's but i dont know of any in your state...but I am sure someone here - ask Jamie, Clayton, or Connie...

Hope this has helped a bit - and always feel free to PM me

Christine

I know what I am and I know what I am not

Never put it past this disease to be the culprit - but we also cant brainwash ourselves into believing that it is the only thing
