Hi Everyone:

I have an appointment Friday with a specialist regarding my enlarged spleen which was found on a CT scan. Saw my Dr. regarding this and he is sending me to a specialist. He said when he felt around he could not feel the enlargement (which is a good sign) on the report it said 13cc which is not that enlarged, but he wants to play safe...

Any questions I should ask about lyme and the spleen as this is a new doctor , and new doctors and lyme don't go hand in hand. But then again, I don't take much crap from doctors either so I will have my list in hand...

I do know when I search Lyme and Spleen it did say a Spleen can be enlarged from lyme....So I did print that out to bring with me.

I did have this problem when I was 20 (ok many moons ago) and they never did find the cause, and it went away on its down...

Thanks everyone, have a wonderful nite.

Julie

hi. i'm new here but not new to lyme.

about the spleen. have you read any of dr. j s' work about bartonella.(i'll pm you full name) i can't find it right now-but i know he said bartonella makes nodules on the spleen and liver-or it can make nodules there.

i have been having a lot of problems under my left rib cage and have nodules there. my llmd has told me to try to get up to top dose of rifampin. he said he has had patients whose nodules went away and gi symptoms improved with this drug.

i had a cat scan and ultrasound and they did not show an enlarged spleen-but my symptoms have been getting worse-so i am hoping the llmd is correct and they will just go away.

you can google the docs name and "spleen" and i think it will bring you to article. some of his articles were published in public health alert too.

good luck with your appt. i will be following this thread to see how you do.

I go read the PM you sent me, thank you....I also have a lot of pain under my left rib cage but I have a very bad stomach, had the Nisson Flundelopation for acid refulx and since I don't have the ability to burp or throw up I get a lot of gas build up which cause me a lot of pain all the time....

is the N---F--- the surgery for reflux? i have been taking prevacid for over 7 yrs and hate doing it. i know it is messing up my gi tract long term while it relieves me of symptoms short term. i can go w/o if i do not take ibuprofen or abx... so i am looking for substitute for ibu and hoping once i finish abx it will be more ok.

i used to have a gi doc who would at least talk to me and my llmd-he wasn't perfect-but better than the one i have now that only talks to me when i am doped up before or after procedures

i wonder about the surgery to fix reflux-have heard mixed info in it.

PLEASE do NOT have the surgery (or what I had Nissen Fundelopation) I have regreated it for the past 8 years. You can't burp (however I just started to as my wrap is getting loose) you can't THROW UP (ended up in the ER twice to have my stomach pumped due to the flu). All you do is pass gas, its awful.

I lost 38 pounds from November 6 until March 30 that year as I could not eat solid food until April. As of last year my heartburn is back I have to take PPI's twice a day...Not worth it if you ask me. My Hyst was an easier surgery then the NF....Think long and hard before you do it...But I have heard they have something new out, I will find out as I see my GI doctor regarding my Spleen on Friday. Oh plus i have to be scoped twice a year since having it, to make sure the wrap does not fall apart...

Thanks again for that web address.
