I started my first week of intensive therapy with my LLMD whis week. I am on oral Alinia 2x daily and IV Clindamycin and Merrem twice a day. It is intense. the first night of treatment I was in the ER with a 104.5 temp., and Thurs. night I did the same (back in the ER with a high tenp). Does this sound familiar or right? Seizures, high fevers, shaking chills, and overwhelming joint pain? Sound like a Herx? I think the doctor is going after my babesiosis first. I don't know, it just worries me.

As I never had that happen, I just can't answer that. Did you speak to your LLMD about what has happend the past few days?? I do know when I get high fevers (not often) I have seizures (Never outgrew it from childhood)....

I think I would put a call into him/her and tell them what is happening...Meds might be to strong or it can be a reaction of some sort, I don't think I would play around with this...

I know that one, it is soooo rough. My babesia herx's are the worst I have ever experienced and like you that was on Clindamycin and Quinine Sulphate. I still take these and it DOES get easier.

The good news is once you have been through the worst of it which may take a while you honestly come out of every herx so much stronger - My last babs herx was so bad I honestly did not think I could do it but when it went my mobility improved beyond belief.

you will also be so very proud that you have done it and so you should be.

Hang in there as I do honestly know a babs herx and it will pass as long as you continue to treat it.

Lots of hugs

My first Herx on just Doxy, Samento and Lauricidin caused me to have fever, chills and sweats, and other symptoms. I didn't have a fever as high as yours, but I ended up developing an infection in my leg afterward. IDK why I got the infection, if it was incidental, or if it was because I was under stress, or what, but it was similar to what you describe. I do agree with Julie, that you should talk to your doc, because I think it's so very important. It may be that he would want you to reduce your dosage of meds or he may have you reduce and only take one at a time and add them back one at a time, etc... It's really important that you communicate with your doctor and be sure he knows what's going on with you, so he can help you determine what's best from here on out with you. Both of you need to work together to move forward. *hugs* and good luck to you!

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help.

I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.
