Yes. The psychiatric side of lyme is rarely discussed, but definitely a big part of this syndrome.

Yes! My doctor finally prescribed my xanax to take on occassion. I've used a few times, after running out of relaxation ideas.

i feel like I have been in a constant panic attack for the longest time. i don't even know what about. unfortunatly it comes with the territory. I do take xanax occasionally, my doc is stingy with it. I've tried everything natural I could possibly buy, I think I keep my local health food store in business, but nothig seems to help. On top of all the other ridiculous symptoms, it would sure be nice to have at least a decent quality of life.
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

YES YES YES

Since starting treatment my anxiety goes off the scale at times, I never had this before treating Lyme and co-infections.

We should not be embarassed talking about it as even though many dont mention it THEY SHOULD as its very common when you start treatment and during treatment.

My LLMD tells me its a combination of Bugs, drugs and toxins....... So by killing the bugs and getting rid of the toxins it will all go eventually. Just keep in mind it is part of the process and we have to go through it to get through it.

For me it is the toughest part of this illness and treatment.

I had a different experience.

I'd never had anxiety before I became ill with TBIs. Then---- full blown anxiety that slowly disappeared after starting abx.

No anxiety now.

I tried all sorts of herbs first (Chinese and others) but the only thing that helped was abx.

We're all different.

So did it take some time on AB's for this to go for you cave?

Im still in the early stages of treatment with High dose AB's and am just assuming for me its part of herxing etc.as it never started until treatment started - I am continually told it can be one of the last thing to go - God I hope so as its very tough at times.......

Ria,

It took a while on abx before anxiety disappeared. I can't remember how long exactly---- this was quite a while ago. But it started gradually, not overnight.

I was unable to even watch TV, read an 'exciting' novel. Black Beauty was 'exciting' because horses were being hurt

----- every thing caused me anxiety--- a telephone call in the evening.

The biggest advance, though, was after I was treated for Bart. It hadn't been discovered as a TBI until about 5 years after I took sick so tx was very delayed.

My opinion: Bart = neurocrap

So no more anxiety AT ALL.

I thought it was just me that had anxiety with this! Wow do I feel better! Really thought I was just losing it!!!I told my one doc I was depressed and anxious over this whole Lyme disease thing and he never said a word about anyone else saying the same thing! As i'm starting to feel better it is lessening. What helps me the mosr is exercise. I know it sounds crazy but even if I can only do light yoga or walk for a few minutes I force my muscles to do it! I'm sure this is NOT doctor recommended, but it helps me!

Thanks Cave,

You are so reassuring and that is exactly what my LLMD says that Bart is culprit to anxiety.

I am in the throws of treating Lyme and Babs right now but bart is next on his list.

Again thank you for posting as this will help so many

Ria
