  "I have Lyme" (LUCA)

MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." Hello Friends!

Well, on top of everything else, today, when I returned home from errands, I found out my computer has a virus.

Typing on my work computer just to give you this message.

Started out a pretty good day until I spent over FOUR hours trying to get help and/or figure out how to get rid of the virus on my own.

Then I did the craziest thing, and it just represents the types of things I do SO often, 24/7 now, and the types of things that are really, seriously starting to frighten me.

In order to get Dell Support, I had to transfer ownership of my computer, because the person who sold it to me has a "pro-gold warranty" on it through May 2011.

Problem is when I tried to register once, I couldn't figure it out (something went wrong: can't remember) so I kind of forgot about it until I needed it tongiht.

So, the guy at Dell helps me a little, then says he can't help me further until I get that register.

Problem is customer support (not tech support) is only open Monday through Friday!

Well, I searched for the warranty paper, anyway, for about thirty to forty minutes.

Through piles and piles and piles of papers.

In the living room, kitchen, bedroom, and I finally found it in the drawer of my nightstand!

So, I put it on the couch next to my computer, and I got distracted with some other things.

I got this little panicky feeling about it, and glanced over at the couch, and sure enough it was still there right by the computer. Right where I left it.

Then I started talking to my son, and picking up the piles of paper that were to be discarded and talking and putting other papers in the places where they belonged, and I went back to the couch where the computer and paper were and guess what?

The paper/warranty was not there. Sad

Now, I say to my son,"You saw it! It was right there when I was teling you how happy I was that I finally found it!"

So, I go back through the other places where I was dividing papers: folders, work pile, etc., and no luck.

My son says that I picked up a pile of papers from next to the couch and put them in the trash.

There are three small trash bags of papers and now I cannot remember which one I had put those papers in!

However, I remembered that one pile did contain a catalog, so that helped me narrow it down some.

And, sure enough! There was the paper I had been searching for: for almost an hour's time: IN THE DARN TRASH!

Yup. That, to me is Lyme, pure and simple.

I NEVER used to do things like this, but when that paper disappeared I just looked at my son and said, "I am scaring myself!"

In a way it is funny, and I did have to laugh, but it is a prime example to me of why my life seems so difficult and chaotic.

Because I do things like that ALL THE TIME NOW!

I realize that this is something that could happen to anyone at anytime.

I once threw my TAX RETURN check in the trash when I was married.

However, I am giving one example of things that happen over and over throughout every day.

Something is "hear one moment and disappears the next."

Or I am going to say something really important and it is gone in a flash, never to be retrieved.

Oh, and people beware.

My friend who fixes my computer said that almost ALL whoe bring their computers to him with viruses get them through FACE BOOK!

I do not go on Face Book but my son does, and he uses that computer.

And the first thing my guy asked me was, "Do you go on Face Book?"

He said there are "TONS" of viruses on Face Book. Just FYI.

He was going to try to fix mine remotely, then I would pay him through paypal, but I couldn't even get it to work in safe mode.

I won't go into detail, because would take forever to explain what it is doing, but it made it so I will have to bring it to him and he is over an hour's drive.

He is reasonably priced, esp. compared to Geek Squad and people like that, but right now even five dollars is too much for me!

I did NOT need this right now, but I DO need that computer, because I have a workshop coming up for my PT job, and I have to attend.

Even if I am not teaching a class right now for the PT job, I still have to keep up with workshops and trainings, etc.

So, there goes the extra money I was trying to squeeze out of my next check to order my supplements.

So, still praying for that financial miracle, folks!

Heading off to get a good night's sleep to try to keep what little bit of mind I have left together. Tongue

Best Wishes,

Hope :)

I'm an Advocate

hope, i know what you mean; i have piles all over too; hubby cleans off our diningroom corner weekly and puts it in the middle of table for me to file/toss,etc.

i've learned over and over; HANDLE EACH PAPER ONLY ONCE; do my bookwork as expenses occur so it gets written down/filed.

we use a 3ring notebook; helps tremendously.

i need to find my photos of my lyme library display; going thru 20-25 photo albums each with 100-500 photos each is timeconsuming. she'll use in her next utube lyme activism.

Betty, thanks for the tips/reminders.

I am working up setting up a system but takes time to get through it all.

In the long run it will save me TONS of time!

Just a slow process, a little at a time.

The trick is to not let MORE pile up as I get through the disaster I have now.

Papers have always been a big problem for me. I used to have a great filing system, then kinda let it slide, so new goal!

Best Wishes,

Hope :)
