MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." So I went to the doctor who originally diagnosed me about two weeks ago as my meds are running out.

I was told to come back in two to three months if I am still having symptoms and she MIGHT prescribe another course of meds.

Basically go home and deal with the fatigue, pain, migranes, etc while working full time and completing my masters.

She compared getting more meds to overmedicating the common cold. I was like I don't have the COMMON COLD!

I even listed out my symptoms and she choose two to do a cursory review of - joint pain and the coughing.

Totally dismissed the migranes as being part of Lyme.

Thankfully I went though because I got my lab report. For two pages that makes 15 dollars per a page plus gas and time spent.

I need to complete a college project, stuff for work, and fill out new patient forms for LLMD. Ridiculous!

I called my mom and she said well I am glad to hear that the doctor thinks you are over the hump.

I responded no just a refusal to treat due to legalities and insurance stipplations.

So frustrated and scared because recently when I have stopped meds (the antibotics even for bad diagnosises helped some) I slump further into the disease.

P23 and P41 bands positive, IBS like symptoms caused by possible candida, herbal and antiobiotic treatment, gluten free, candida diet.

I do not have a medical license so my suggestions are limited to personal experience and research. Also I am not a lawyer so if I offer advice relating to school issues it is only from my experiences as a special education teacher, my own disabilities real or Lyme induced, and research.

Have you tried going on herbals. I had to go off of antibiotics due to the damage they did to my GI tract. I found a new llmd who uses antibiotics and herbal cures. Wow lets just say I haven't felt the impacts of taking the medicine in a long time. With all the herbs such as cats claw I can feel it now.

I am currently taking a wide variety of vitamins. I do have samento, but haven't tried it yet.

Going to have to I guess if I don't get more meds. The meds have certainly been working because I can feel it.

Frustrated and have way too much to do at the moment to not be at least 50% present.

Rowergirl,

So sorry to hear about the complications and hassles you are experiencing. It scares me the idea that your doc doesnt think you need treatment for a while.

Is she an LLMD? Doesnt sound like it. If you are still having symptoms, you need to be on 'something'.

Dont want things to get worse. There are lots of herbals to try. And the key is to keep at them. Then rotate and use others if one seems to have worn off its effectiveness after a while, or does not seem to work at all.

Sounds like you do have a LLMD you are going to see, so that is good, if it is someone else.

Hang in there and do think about taking the herbals in the mean time. Samento is good. so are some others. I have a list in my diary if you want to look at them. I keep adding to them.

Also consider that you probably have coinfections. And try herbs for those.

I have them listed also.

Blessings to you and a big hug!

I wish I had solutions for everybody here who is suffering, but I am still hunting for them myself and seem to be more of a student on this board than a teacher. All I have to offer is my experience, support, and prayers based on what I have learned in my recovery. I am not a physician.

Rowergirl,

I am so sorry for what you are going through. It is the sad fact that MDs do not, for the most part, understand Lyme disease, and how to treat it.

Migraines, for certain, can be attributed to Lyme- as well as all of the coinfections. In fact, for some people- this is how their illness starts.

If you have Samento- you have a very good herbal abx to start with. I have been taking this regularly since May- and I won't go without it.

It helps both by killing the bacteria & strengthening the immune system. Some people on this forum healed their Lyme- mainly by Samento.

Some of the other herbs that can help- Banderol, Cumanda, Spiro, Lymogen, Borrelogen...really there are many.

If you start the herbal tinctures- start SLOW (1 DROP) as the directions say...and increase as you feel well enough to...The LLMDs all will say that it is a marathon...not a sprint to get well...

Hope you start feeling better soon and we'll keep you in our prayers.

Hugs,

Jackie

Yeah the doctor today was just a regular family phsysician - I was trying to limit costs.

Even though I am in my third year of teaching I am still getting paid what I got my first year so hardly enough to go around without being sick.

Thankfully I have tried to penny pinch and have some rainy day money for this kind of situation.

Vicmac - I do think my lyme has been around for a while, but the stress of school last year triggered the migranes.

Since then I have slowly been getting more symptoms that didn't seem related - thought it was weight issues, sports injuries, or injuries/illness from picking up or touching my students.

I love my students, but they are far to sharing with the various bacteria on them or in them - which I somehow pick up every one or it seemed so.

I will start the samento tonight while I have two doses of meds left.

Just got up from a three hour nap wears me out to drive lately more than an hour. Now to my college project.

I will post my lab results later to discuss what those mean. Thanks everybody - Laura

Just remember when starting a natural like that you have to really ramp up the water/fluid intake. Start out really slowly with just ONE drop until you know for sure after a few days that you will not be herxing too hard on it.

It put me OUT ...I herxed so badly...

Thanks Tara! I just put one drop in a huge glass of water.

I will make sure to drink more before bed though. No I don't have time to herx unless it is the weekend.

Every weekend lately I am in bed or on the couch recovering from a bad spell or just the strain of the week, while doing paperwork naturally.

Thankfully I have great students who brighten my day daily! They even will get me things when I don't have the energy to move one more iota - bless them for that.

At the beginning of the year I created a homey and well stocked room (first aid and other neccessities for being ill).

I moved over the summer so it had to be done anyways I just made a bit more bearable for me and my students to be in what amounts to a backroom closet most of the day.

Working on the stress thing! I try very hard to keep it light hearted with my kids particularly on days when I don't feel good or stressed.

Laughter cures all that ills! I firmly believe in this theory or it at least helps.

In a week or so I get to celebrate with one of my students who is moving on to the fourth grade reading basal whoowhoo! Pizza, balloons, the works!

Small achievements have to be a BIG deal for those students with disabilities to change their opinions of themselves and those around them.

So I dish out the change and it is worth every single penny and more!

Thats what keeps me going their smiles of pure joy and achievement when they realize I can I really can do this! Makes me cry darn it!Smile
