I have been careful not to take with food but no matter what i do, it gags me and comes back up.

I am fighting to keep it down tonight as it seems to be the protcol for lyme with erhlichia.

i tried with herbal tea, with water, with food....i know its says can make u have naseau but this is so bad.

i want to start the flagyl to attack the cysts as for sure after 6 years,,there are cysts of lyme but all i read says flagyl with the tetracyclines...anyone out there on doxy and flagyl together combo?

Kittiekat,

I haven't got anything for you on this because I haven't started treatment yet, not for a couple more weeks, but I just want you to know how bad I feel that you are so sick, hun!! I have heard some people can have reactions really bad though, and one person even described it similar to what it's like for some people going through chemotherapy. I know that's not how it is for everybody, but it sure sounds like you are one who is going through a real rough time of it. Have you talked to your doctor about how bad it is?

I'm sure someone else will be along that can better help you with this than I can, but I did want to offer some support.... you're in my thoughts & prayers, hun!!

thank u. i needed that. u are lovely.

Re your comment on it being comparable to chemo....that is exactly what i was thinking when i was on my knees sick this evening, my stomach convulsed with nausea like nothing has ever made me so sick to my stomach before and when i was in college I had some pretty good parties...I know its not herx yet because this happens only when i take the doxy, within moments i am gagging..it happens real fast...tonight i took it again because i lost the first batch right away,,,,i will do anything to get rid of this lyme and it seems unfair that i am working at so hard and cant catch a break...I see the LLMD in NY in 3 weeks so hopefully i can keep it in me till then as he will know what to change it to...he is the guru apparently and it took quite a battle to get in with him...that's a story in itself but just greatful I am finally seeing him instead of his PA this time.

the stragenst thing settled my stomach tonight finally...couldnt belive it but i got some confort from Silk brand soy milk....yes odd I know but this is coming from a girl that back in university used to cure a hangover with cold lasgane and apple juice...needless to say normally i have a stomach like lead....until this mess that is now i cant eat anything. On the coffee thing, if i do it, my legs shake and the tremors at night are violent because I have neuro lyme....tends to give the litle beasts a party and keep them up all night in my spine...creee-peee

How do u stay so calm?, I want to shout from the mountains how much i hate this disease but come to think of it, u wont catch me in the mountains again....i will live in a bubble to avoid ticks now ha! LOL.....

Where do u think u got it? I got this in Asia

i see some very brave people here speaking of chopping wood...not me, i would not chop wood, if I could...( sorry childhood rhyme)...sounds almost like ''i would not eat green eggs and ham''....

Ok Ok. I am delerious...

nite nite all

I see a naturopathic LLMD, and I will be starting my antibitoics in a couple of weeks when I get back from vacation. We leave Wednesday, and will be back on the 6th of Dec. He wants to do a combo of Doxy and Samento, but there are several members here who have gone natural all the way and have done very well so I am planning to just do the Samento. Maybe you could discuss that option with your LLMD?

I'm glad you were able to settle your stomach finally, and I hope that you can get some rest..... sounds like you need it more than ever now!!

You asked how I stay calm... My faith is probably the best answer. Not saying you don't have faith. I don't know what your beliefs are,.. I am just saying that my faith is very strong and I find peace within it. I get worried, I get frustrated, I vent, I cry... but I hold tight to my faith, and I don't know, I guess I just keep telling myself that I. WILL. SURVIVE. NO matter what, I am bigger than this. I am stronger than Lyme. I just do my best to build myself..... Believe me, I do crumble! This is such an awful disease. Hey, if you need to go scream, then go scream, hun! Get it out! Some days I think about driving down the coast and doing just that,.. screaming at the ocean!

As far as where I got, we have no idea... I thought I got it possibly in my own back yard (& I did, but it wasn't the first bite, it was a reinfection) a little more than three years ago. But, my doctor thinking I have actually had Lyme possibly 20-25 years now, it was most likely down the coast. I grew up in the woods, and had animals out the wazoo... dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, cows, horses, and I was in the woods/forests daily. I helped chop & haul firewood every year. We went camping every year. The possibilities for me are endless, I'm sure, so it's really difficult to say exactly when or where. *sigh*

Did you find out yet what strong of Borrelia you have since you contracted it in Asia?

I hope you are able to rest... Hopefully, you can make it through the weekend alright enough, and then call your doctor's office Monday morning.

Oh, poor sweetie! I had a horrible time on Doxy. It's a tough one. It's one of the hardest LD drugs. If you are really having a hard time, you gotta talk to your doc. It simply may not be for you, and you may need to switch to a different drug. There are plenty of others.

As for what to do, some of the things I did when I was on it was to eat first, then take it, or at least eat a little, then take it in the middle of the meal, let some food get in me. I think you aren't supposed to eat it with bread or take it with dairy, if I remember correctly, so Silk soymilk is great. But beware about sandwiches and stuff. Hearty soups and stuff may be good, anything that helps settle your stomach. Any of the foods you would go to normally for comfort, I'd say do it. But the Silk is wonderful, cuz it's got that thick, milky texture to it but isn't dairy. If they DIDN'T tell you not to eat bread, I'd say to eat bread with it, cuz that's so good on the tummy with stuff like that, but I don't remember if it was safe or not!

It can be really tough sometimes to get through this. But you can do it. Just hang in there. And don't forget to keep a dialogue open with your doctor. That's really important. If you can't talk to him, you shouldn't be going to him! LOL

As for the Flagyl with the Doxy, I believe there are several members here on Flagyl and Doxy at the same time, and maybe one other ab as well...You may get some more answers as the night wears on. But, I'd again recommend you talk to the doctor about it. I'm not sure if you can take it, but I would think so...

Hope you get to feeling better really soon. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well, but I can totally sympathize.

*hugs*

Jen

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help.

I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.
