I'm sure a lot of us have used this, but I love it.

Wikipedia.org I find it better then "Google"...It can be hard to understand at first...But I love it...

I love wikepedia! I use it all the time, but for 'real' facts you have to be careful.

It's a 'people's encyclopedia'. Anyone (who joins) can post information there. And anyone can change that information (up to a point) to what their opinion is.

(Citations (gasp!) are asked for, to try and keep the material trustworthy.

But they're not always provided.

A good example---- the entry on Lyme disease was hotly combative-----with many changes and deletions etc.

I believe that McSweegan even posted there.

I haven't checked recently and maybe it's all settled down now.

So, wikipedia is great for a 'jumping off' place and might point a person to a good reliable source of information.

Professors/teachers will NOT accept a students quote from wiki as a good source of whatever topic they're writing about.

Neither should we ---- it's a good start though and I love it. But any health related topic should be researched first.

And wiki DOES try to keep their facts as er, um factual as possible.

Cave,

I just took a look. It looks like someone has attempted to make it look slightly more "balanced" but looking at the references, there's a ton of Steere, Wormser, and Kempner. I always assume McSweegan messes with it, he seems to have a lot of time on his hands.

At least that's the way it is today.
