About a month after my pains etc started I noticed what feels like a constant bruise on the right side of my spine, right above my bra strap. I feel it more in teh am. I had an MRI of spine but was fine-just slight DDD. Has anyone else had this type of bruise feeling on spine? I wonder if I should investigate this more, doubt its lungs and prefer not to have an xray due to radiation-had one about 1.5 yrs ago for GERD etc.

I did read that lyme can make your spine sensitive..

my spine is my biggest pain source. it's insaine at times, just hideous. I had what felt like a rib out of place for a long time, not sure if that's the same feeling you're describing or not. it comes and goes now, very frustrating.

now my sacrum feels like it's splitting in two....

it was so bad, I begged for shots in my spine to help the pain...big mistake, steroids are detrimental to lyme treatment. disseminated it, paralyzed me for a day, made it all worse....it was and is a nightmare.

all the fun symptoms of lyme.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

King -

Oh my spine - List just doesnt seem to end. I know what you are talking about with the bruising. And I have had Moderate DJD in my spine since my early 20's, have issues with my schmerls nodes...neuropathy...burning, bruising, shocks...cramping, squeezing...OH it goes on from there...

It never hurts to rule things out - and for most of us - it ends up helping to support our having lyme.

But you also have to consider the cost. What I have typically done, is stopped with the mass amts of tests unless the LLMD or the Pain doc (went to a pain clinic for YEARS) felt that it was necessary to have the tests. As neither of them wanted to just ASSUME that it is ALWAYS Lyme. Nerve pain can cause you to think that there is a whole mess of things wrong - and it is just the nerves...

Hope this helps

Well, I had an MRI of my spine awhile back, but this odd bruise pain is just constant. One of my drs also suggested a lumbar puncture as some bacteria and viruses as we know live in the spine. SOOO I may do this, just to make sure there isnt anything additional going on.

Have either of you had one of these?

I've also had an MRI of my spine. The muscles around my spine, on both sides, are so tender. Sometimes Alleve helps with this pain. There's no other explanation, other than lyme, for this pain. I've been to a neurologist, rhematologist, nephrologist (because I thought it was kidney pain). Hopefully, this symptom will get better while on abx.

I have had one spot in my spine that has felt "bruised" too for many, many years. Mine is lower.... honestly, I attributed it to the spinal block I had about 9 years ago, but if I recall correctly, I had that feeling long before that...... it just got much worse after that. I would notice it thr most leaning against the back of the tub when in the bath, or when getting a massage... couldn't stand for it to be touched. I don't notice it as much as I used to, but then all of my other pains have gotten so much worse over time that perhaps they just stand out more now. IDK

I get the really tender areas on both sides of my spine also. I've also had the 'rib out of place' feelings...... yet a few more things I never would have thought to attribute to Lyme Disease. Interesting....
