Well, as many of you know I finally had an appointment with an LLMD (ND), and that was this afternoon.

He is wonderful, and spent TWO HOURS with me today!! And,.. his office is only 9 minutes from my house! You gotta love that!

We went over my entire history, all 34 years of it... covered a lot of ground in those two hours!

So, I'm not going to keep you all waiting on what he said... He says Lyme (we knew it was, right?). What I didn't expect is that he highly suspects that I very well may have been infected with Lyme fo the past 20-25 years, and that may be where so many of my other medical issues have arisen from over all of these years. He thinks I have co-infections going on (we figured that, too). He does not think that the EM rash I had three years ago was the initial onset of the Lyme though. He thinks it was a reinfection to what I already had, and that at this point it is systemic Lyme. It is believd I have Lyme Arthritis, Neurological Lyme & Lyme Meningitis, and we obviously don't know yet how many co-infections.

He also thinks I am deficient in a number of areas. He couldn't even find my thyroid so we did an iodine test on my arm, and it is already almost completely gone. I can barely tell where it was now. He suspects several hormonal imbalances and also wants to test me for heavy metals toxicity. There's other things, too, but we are going to go into more of that when I see him again on Tuesday morning for further exams and to do various labs. After that, we'll work on a treatment plan.

Being an ND, he believes in treating the whole body, which is what I also believe. He also knows a LOT about Lyme, and many other things.... things other doctors have never taken the time to consider with me or listen to me... he is caring & compassionate, and I really feel like I am in good hands!

Today was overwhelming, and I learned a lot more about what is, and may be, going on with me than I anticipated, but what a relief it also was after my ordeal with my PCP's office & insurance and acting like I was nuts!

And so, I am finally taking steps toward a hopeful & eventual recovery.......... FINALLY!! And I feel SO validated... that feeling is so amazing!

(((HUGS)))

Tahnee

Congrats Tahnee!

I'm so happy that you found someone nearby. As you know I'm a firm believer in finding a LLMD that treats the whole person. Good luck with your treatments and be patient as it may take a while to feel better.

Take care,

Denise

Congratulations, good for you! Sounds like you are in good hands!

Like Denise and many others here, my son and I did alternative treatment, treating the whole person.

I have Thyroid issues too, so working on that.

Good luck!

yay.....I'm so happy that you found a doc that you can trust and feel confident about....plus, nine minutes away? What a blessing!!!!! That iodine test is cool, isn't it? So simple...mine disappeared quickly, too . My ND prescribed ioderal. I just needed to take one bottle.

Well, it sounds like you will be on your way. Do keep us posted, when you have time.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Open your mind to the possibilities available to you.

An attitude of gratitude is good 'medicine,' too.

THANK YOU, Denise, Jaime, Christine, Ann & Connie!!!!!

I was both worn out and busy last night & today so didn't get to post again until now. My girls had their plays today. I am ready to just DROP!

Validation is AMAZING! Not that anyone wants to have Lyme, but as you all know all too well, it is a battle to be listened to, to be heard........ to be believed!!

The iodine test,.. well, it was soaked in to the point I could barely see it (like the faintest shadow where a bruise had been) within in only a few hours.

Yes, Connie,.. 9 minutes!! A TOTAL blessing!! He shares the same faith and holds many of the same values that I do, too, so that is a huge bonus point with me as well. He's a very personable doctor and we share some common ground so that embodies the rest. It is a wonderful feeling.

And so a new journey begins.... I'm taking my first steps towards one day getting better! It feels SO GOOD to say that! Finally!

Hey Tahnee,

I've been so busy the last couple days I totally missed your first post here! How amazing. I am speechless! This is really cool, and totally gives me hope that one day, oh, one day, I will yet get this thing dealt with too!

*hugs*

Jen

Just because it's impossible doesn't mean it can't happen.

I'm not a doc, so anything I say is my opinion only. Nothing I say is meant as offense, I offer what I can as help.

I believe in educating myself on all my medical issues and being my own advocate, for no one else with do that on my behalf. I recommend we all do the same!

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Oh, Jen, THANKS... it feels SO good, and I sure hope you can have an experience like this, too! One day soon!! The simple act of being listened to was enough tosend me reeling... I had never realy experienced anything like it before!! I wish so much that all people could get the kind of attention that I recieved yesterday... it was phenominal!! That kind of care should come standard, IMO,... and it should be available to EVERYone.
