MDJunction to me

jenniferdiva"MDJunction has been just an amazing support for me. The people who are on mdj are so nice! Unlike the many other support sites that I have been on. I have made several friends on mdj who are so supportive and so educated about mental illness. Of course non of us are doctors, but we certainly offer each other hugs, opinions, and advice. I have learned a great deal from my friends on mdjunction. I am also encouraging other people who suffer from mental illness to come on to MDJ. It can be a life line." (jenniferdiva)

Hello again, my friends!

I would post this in "off topic' or another forum, but seems when I do post outside of General Support, I don't receive many responses, and I want to make sure as many of my MdJ friends see this, as possible.

Can fit here in this category, because this is my way of expressing to you all how I feel about being here these past months, and thanking you for immediately embracing me and making me feel welcome with your support and friendship.

Thinking on that, tonight, I honestly know I could not have done this without ALL of you!

Without you ALL, I KNOW I would be out floundering around the internet, trying to figure it all out, totally confused, frustrated and upset.

Instead, I feel your warm, solid, and strong arms around me, and the deep and meaningful warmth and support that comes when people truly WANT to help.

For those of you who think you are not touching lives, you are! Especially mine!

Some may not know how much I adore music and lyrics.

Extremely eclectic taste in music: most ALL types except very little country and only some rap.

I love rock, hard and light, alternative (one of my faves), jazz, classical, and much more.

I am especially attracted to bands with singers who have unique voices and those songs with powerful lyrics.

My dad played jazz trumpet with big name bands before marrying my mom (and had his own little band on week ends for years after they married).

His trumpet playing could break your heart or cause you to leap with joy, bring tears or laughter.

Yes, that profound, and I am NOT saying that because he was my daddy, because everyone said so, lol!

I think that is why music is so ingrained in me.

Sadly, I was not born with nor did I ever develop a good singing voice, because oh, how I would love to be able to sing! (Now, only in the car or the shower, lol)

Probably why I admire so many good singers, artists, etc.

Anyway, I thought I would make a thread for you all with some songs that are meaningful to me, uplifting to me, and/or make me think and/or just feel.

I hope you will listen and enjoy.

(And be glad this is all I listed, because I could fill several pages with links, lol).

My little holiday "gift" to you all. Enjoy!

****Most beautiful version of this song, ever. I had the divine privilege of seeing him sing this, (in addition to many of the artists, above) years ago, in New Orleans. Close your eyes and let it take you away from all your worries. (4.40)

May your New Year be filled with hope, peace, faith, and LOVE.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to ALL! Smile

P.S. Here I go again, having to apologize, because I set out planning to list four or five songs to you all, lol.

As you can see, I got carried away, but believe me, I could go on all night, lol!

Pick and choose what you think might mean something to you, if you are so inclined, but do listen to the last songs that I starred, then listen to the very last song, closing your eyes and asking for the peace that passes all understanding.

It is there for the taking. Love you all!

My son left now, and I am sitting here waiting to pick my group of people up from their holiday celebration (explained this in another thread).

Started going through songs on YouTube and taking a trip down memory lane.

Pain is at a minimum, and I am feeling very relaxed and peaceful this evening.

My oldest will be home a little after 10pm, and although I wish I didn't have to go back out into the cold, I made a promise, and it is a short trip.

I wish every day/evening could be this laid back, free of stress, relaxing and peaceful.

Music is soothing the soul and taking me away from it all.

Bittersweet memories, and if one song makes me sad, I choose another that cheers me back up, lol.

Cannot even believe how relaxed I am feeling right now.

Wonderful!

Best Wishes,

Hope :)

I'm an Advocate

hi hope, glad to read you are feeling well tonight and pain free for the time being Smile hugs.

hope, what would really help us if you would show the LENGTH OF TIME FOR EACH VIDEO under the link or beside it; 9 minutes.

since we all have a certain amount of time we spend here, it's helpful IF we have that time at this particular time to watch it all.

i'll come back another time to watch.

hope after you get this done adding length of times to each link, feel free to copy it and paste it to my ONGOING VIDEO COLLECTION ok. Smile

Hi Bettyg,

I had a feeling you were going to say this, lol.

I just transfered my funny Christmas video to another thread, but I forgot to put the time.

I will do this later today or tomorrow. Most videos, above, are around the time of the average song.

I would say: 3 to 6 minutes, each, but I will be more exact later.

Just wanting to share, since music was really "speaking to me," last night!

Love you!

Best Wishes,

Hope :)

I wish I had solutions for everybody here who is suffering, but I am still hunting for them myself and seem to be more of a student on this board than a teacher. All I have to offer is my experience, support, and prayers based on what I have learned in my recovery. I am not a physician.

Julie, music calms my soul, too.

Sometimes, it just makes me too sad, and other times inspires me and brings me total peace.

Songs have memories attached to them, down to the sounds and smells experienced upon first hearing certain songs.

My son brought me to a concert at a club one time, and I was one of the oldest there.

I asked him if he wasn't embarrased to be there with his "old mom," with all the young people, and he said, "Mom, music is for all ages," and how right he is!

Thank you for the comments. I hope you all will listen to, at the very least, the last three songs, and above all, the very last posted.

Cheers! Smile

Best Wishes,

Hope :)
