A very good frind of mine just used this lab. She was told her lyme is in remission (good thing). The test is 250.00 an they look at the "antigen"...

I will ask my doctor about this as I would love to have this done to see if my lyme is in Remission...

Any feed back would be appreciated regarding this lab.

It's the old Bowen Lab. There was a big 'shake-up' or change a couple of years ago and it all got muddy in my mind.

AFAIK---- few llmds will use this test---- they MIGHT not simply because it isn't covered by insurance so llmds prefer to use IGeneX or MDL---- which have a good track record AND are covered by most insurances.

I'd spend the money on IGenex or MDL----unless you're just looking for a positive by any means. (Bowen used to be known and used by people who just wanted a positive test.)

But then your insurance may not cover for treatment derived by a lab such as this one.

Here are some more details. Maybe they might help you.

this is a good bunch. they do western blots, but their specialty is the search and count of the "antigens" in the blood using flow cytometry. i got a count of 27 organisms, positive fo Bb.

while certainly not conclusive, we can use all the help we can get, given the awful accuracy of the existing tests.

they shouldn't say lyme is in remission. really, they said that? maybe her counts went down, but that doesn't mean it's in remission. only the patient , with input from their llmd, can say that. my daughter is very sick with lyme, but her flow cytometry counts were very low. it really means the lyme is in the tissues and not the blood stream. this tests measure what they see in the blood on that given day. with that sample. it is only somewhat helpful, not foolproof. they can't tell from this test!

If there were a doctor or lab or Higher Authority who can tell for SURE that a persons disease was 'in remission'---- I'd like to know their name.
