Why wear a ribbon?

"I wear this ribbon because someone i know has Lyme disease." (lullabyrose)

MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

I just posted the notice about Leslie Wermer. Tragic.

We all suffer from this disease in so many ways. Our vibrant health is diminished or, as in Leslie's case, lost entirely. The pain, lack of energy, vision, hearing, ability hold a job to support our families, and pay our medical bills. Tragic.

The emotional scars from fighting an ignorant and sometimes corrupt medical system are tragic.

I am blessed with a wonderful wife, who also suffers from lymes disease. We worry about each other. Yet, our support for each other is total.

We are thankful for our current good response to treatment. We are blessed by our LLMD Doc, I know you lurk on this site. So thank you. God bless you. We love you.

It amazes me insurance companies deny appropriate treatments, attack the courageous doctors who are knowledgeable, and deny payment for treatments. Personally, I have been told by many doctors "there is no such thing as lymes." Yet, just yesterday my request to renew my life insurance was denied becuase I had lyme disease. This is just too crazy to believe.

Lately, Suzie created most of our posts to this site. But I still read the messages and my love goes out to all of you. Keep up the good fight.

Hey, we have our first Black President elect. Maybe, we will have acceptance of Lymes disease in our life time.

That is mind-baffling... it DOESN'T EXIST yet a person can't get life insurance or give blood BECAUSE YOU HAVE IT.

What a very good point your posts makes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and thank you for optimism. We have to keep believing!!

God bless & good health to you & your lovely wife!!

Now this crap really pisses me off. I cannot believe this is happening. If it weren't so insanely horrifying, I'd be laughing my butt off.

Please keep us informed of how this is going. I know it might not do any good, but I'm going to make a call to an old friend on the Maryland Governer's Insurance Commission, to see if I can get some insight.

Oh yea - I have heard of this stuff for YEARS...

Probably 12-15 yrs ago, my mother suscribed to some Lyme Newsletter, and a woman wrote in about insurance. To sum up what I remember is this:

Her ins company told her that after 30 days of treatment she was curred...period end of story...so she decided to call as a new prospect, and when she told the rep she had Lyme, she was told they wouldnt provide coverage at all because Lyme was considered terminal...

NOW go friggen figure -- HUH!!!

I once spoke to an airforce recruiting agent...and I told him, no military service would accept me - then I told him I had Lyme - he was quiet, then said, "No, none would, as that disease is incurrable"....

So they know - they only use the knowledge and truth so as to benefit themselves....

AH - it is just pathetic and disguesting

Better go before i get really worked up and remember some more CRAP that I have heard over the years...

But I have to say, when I was preggo with the twins, and I had Cigna - they had assigned an RN advocate to my case - and she said they had accepted me as chronic - my docs were able to provide any documentation that they asked for in a way that they didnt contest it. But that was years ago and i hear that Cigna has declined in that respect...

OK gonzo

I know what I am and I know what I am not

Never put it past this disease to be the culprit - but we also cant brainwash ourselves into believing that it is the only thing

That's correct----- it CAN be done (sometimes) if a person has a good LLMD and one that's willing to 'fight'.

My otherwise great ins. declined IV Rocephin after one month. He fought for me, got another month----- then another 'fight' after the third month.

But the 'climate' may be worse now than it was 8 years ago----- and different states/insurance can be a problem.

My theory---- it ain't over till it's over. But it also ain't easy.

****It amazes me insurance companies deny appropriate treatments****

It's not amazing if a person understands how insurance companies work. Bottom line.

(Pul--eeze don't think I'm defending the insurance companies.!!!!!!)

Start reading. This is long, I haven't read it all----- but it may have some good suggestions. Remember, everyone's insurance is different!
