Doxy is a hard drug. I would call the doctor and let them know. I could not take it, made my hands and legs go numb.

call your doc asap. doxy is a hard one to tolerate....you may be able to add previcade (sp?) to help with it...but talk to doc first ok...could also be toxic build up, do you do a mild detox?

I was on Doxy in 2001 when my dr found an infection in my blood and treated me with that. I was on it for 10 days then I started having bloody stools (sorry gross!) I was in the hospital for a week trying to get the bleeding to stop. They never could tell me why and they just assumed the Doxy did it. They never could tell me what the infection was either I look back now and think that was when my Lyme symptoms started to get worse. Hope everything goes well!!! Good Luck!

Maybe by reading this post I answered my own question.

Here's my question. I have really been hurting(more than usual) I have some doxy left over. I stopped taking it becouse the docs thought it was giving me my terrible burning and heartburn in my esophagis-(SP). I was thinking of maybe trying it again while i wait to get a appointment whith rumy and lyme doctor. Now I am more on the NOT side after reading this thread

one thing with doxy is that you can't lay down utnil an hour after taking it...it doesn burn esophogus if you do. I take zantac an hour before taking mine, and seems to help. also, if you can get doryx its more easily tolorated, but most ins. won't cover it. BUT you can contact the drug companies and some people get it free for a year! it's a process but worht it. Doxy is a GREAT drug, the more I read the more I like it.

You can also start it at lower doses...ie one llmd said to break the capsule open and put half in applesauce and got that route, you also NEED to eat with it....

yes, you definitely need to eat with it. I know more gets into your system if you don't eat......so I tried that the first time I took it, and 10 minutes later I was face into toilet for a couple of hours and had to call out of work. I'd much rather be looking into my toilet than theirs

there is also another form of doxy called Doryx. it's more easily tolorated, but VERY expensive and your ins may not cover it, but worth looking into.

I also know someone whose doc told her to break the capsules in half (the doxy not doryx), and sprinkle some in applesauce, to start very slow, to see if that helps

Aren't those shooting pains from the spirochetes dying? That's what I've heard...
