MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

While poking around on some other pages here the other day I found, under Lyme Diaries, a section listed as 'Lyme Links".

I'm sure that the author of that page, being new to the Lyme Wars, is totally unaware that some of those links are definitely NOT Lyme friendly---- and some are even damaging to our position.

I'll post some information about the worst, NOT to chastise the author of that list, but in hopes that the author will read them and decided whether or not to delete them from that list of links.

First in the list, and one of the worst offenders, is

the ALDF.

Dr. P.J. Baker is now EO of the ALDF which is 'in bed' with the IDSA (Infectious Disease Society of America)----- producers of their VERY damaging guidelines of 2006 that say Lyme is easily cured and there's no such thing as chronic Lyme.

Begin quotes:

"At a time when misinformation is rampant, I am proud to continue to serve the interest of public health by heading the American Lyme Disease Foundation," states Dr. Baker."

"In his first official role as Executive Director, Dr. Baker has published a paper in the July issue of The American Journal of Medicine, rebutting the unsubstantiated claims of "chronic Lyme" among a small but vocal group of activists who challenge the results of mainstream medical research."

http://www.aldf.com/news.shtml

"Lyme disease is easy to cure with a short course of oral antibiotics such as

doxycycline or amoxicillin. What is less well-recognized is that late

manifestations also are responsive to 3 to 4 weeks of treatment with

doxycycline, amoxicillin, or ceftriaxone"

".....a regimen, which is unprecedented for a disease that

is not life-threatening, is harmful and exposes patients to great risks"

The following doctors/names are always to be viewed with suspicion as far as their 'friendliness' towards Lymies.

Alan Barbour, M.D.

Durland Fish, Ph.D.

Leonard Sigal, M.D.

Allen Steere, M.D.

Wormser, G. P.

I'd like these gentlefolk to spend a few weeks in one of our bodies!

Makes me want to vomit...in their laps!

Thanks for the expose...as usual...

Yea...well I bet if one of them did get it or one of their family members did - they would secretly get ALL the necessary treatment...and keep that fact WELL hidden...

That's just what people like that do...

I would LOVE to know "What/Who gives them the right to mame, cripple, and kill us?"

Well we know where they are going to burn dont we...

I didnt just say that...OH YEA I DID

I know what I am and I know what I am not

Never put it past this disease to be the culprit - but we also cant brainwash ourselves into believing that it is the only thing

I'd like to take a bag of borrelia infested ticks, and let them loose in a small confined space with all of the above doctors. Surely, if there was no such thing as "chronic lyme" they would have no fear of being bitten.

I bet they'd run like little sissies.

Cave,

Good catch. I've never gotten as far as the diaries.

How about a challenge, dear Cave, how about a comprehensive list of the good guys. You know, researchers we can trust! We could start with, well, can we list the names of researchers and lyme docs who research???

Anybody know? I mean, Dr. Jones is everywhere and Dr. Cameron's the head of ilads, and Dr. Fallon is my hero these days and he's everywhere as well. Hmmmm. I don't know.

Good idea----- but it would have to be something that was okay'ed by the admin and moderators.

God forbid that I got banned.

But who's going to keep it up on the front page, where every newbie comes in without knowing much and rarely goes to the following pages? (Not complaining, newbies! I was once a newbie.)

The Lyme Diaries also lists Lymenet.org, which used to be a premier site. I see it's still being listed, even at ILADS.

I'll keep plugging away at the Lyme Diaries and hope that the one's that do us 'harm' are reconsidered.

On my 'to do' list is a note to ILADS and warn them just how low Lymenet.org has sunken. (Maybe your next visit to your llmd? )
