I found a really informative article I thought I'd share.

In it, it mentions another common symptom, I hadn't noticed on any other symptoms list and wanted to see what you guys think.

Another interesting symptom often noticed is an increased susceptibility to electrostatic shock. This is likely due to the BLPs causing a change in the electro-potential in our cells/nervous system. Some of these toxins are likely sodium channel agonists and can change the electrical potential of our body. Thus, the likelihood of electro-static shock.

http://www.autoimmunityresearch.org/lyme-disease/

The reason for my curiosity is, I have experienced this (I'm sure most people have at some point or another, but...), but I have noticed this to a more extreme degree. There are periods of time whereas I am afraid to touch anything because the shock is so strong & painful.... we're talking a big, actual spark sometimes!

I'm sure some people are just more "electric" than others, as am I (remember, I'm a odd, LOL), or that weather could even effect this in some people perhaps...?? But, I just thought it was interesting it was mentioned in this, as I hadn't seen it listed elsewhere in relation to Lyme symptoms.

Any thoughts?

yuppers, I get that one too!

Of course, my entire nervous system feels like it's one big electric shock most of the time. horrible pain.

Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.

Yep

At times I can touch anything just about and WHAM-O!

My body also shocks itself - thats the neuropathy. I "see" it like a switchboard that lites up randomly and with great speed. Starts in the spine and sometimes just does this wonderful dance throughout my back, other times it travels to the hips, then down to the ankles. Sometimes I get them in my skull - that is always a blast .OH the fun and joy!!! --------------

Spots along my shoulder blades burn - "see" that like those 4th of July sparklers - actually get that randomly throughout.

Whew! Sorry you gals get that, too, but also glad I'm not alone!!

I have to tell you,... out of the 75 something symptoms on the list, and always finding others in common with other folks,.. stuff that's not on the various lists. Well, I usually average about 68 of the symptoms or so......... all these 'wierd' things that happen, makes me feel like a real freak at times, LOL

Back to the subject though,... sometimes I feel like I could go off like a Roman Candle!!

Is that also what causes the "hot spot" sensation here & there?? I have what feels like a single nerve, or cluster sometimes, that all of the sudden gets REALLY warm just in that small spot. I'm sure I have a lot of "sensations" that I don't realize are nerves...... always learning!

Nerve pain is a funny thing Beauty. For me it started as an indescribable pain inbetween the bones in my hands. No matter what I took, I could not get it to go away...then it progressed and evolved...

Since I am really tired and trying to get my stove & the wood in it to the right temp - BLAZING...I dont have time to go into things...but google lyme nueropathy. It is rather interesting stuff...nothing to celebrate tho .

The shocks have got to be amung the worst tho. I have a memory bank for pain - and this ranks up there right at the top. Its cruel at times. Hence my attitude toward dealing with docs and such. I hope with all I have that those who have yet to progress to this point never do. And for those who have that they find something - anything that helps.

OK - I must get to bed! Have to be up in 2 hours to stoke the fire! YEA!

I'll do that, thanks, Christine! I'm sure there a lot of the feelings, pains and sensations I have that I don't realize are because my nervous system is hot-wired........ Hoped you stayed warm last night! I'm going to go Google Lyme Neuropathy now. Thank you! (((hugs)))

So that's what it is, neuropathy. Do you mean like a ZAP will literally go down your leg and stop you in your tracks. It has happened in my legs, arms, hands...well all over I guess. Also it seems as though when I touch things sometimes; walls, doorknobs, all sorts of everyday items I get shocked. It's not like the pain from my nerves in my body but I guess that us Lymies just may carry more energy in our bodies.

I'm glad this all makes more sense to me know.

Thanks Beauty,

Krissy

Your welcome, Krissy! I'm glad one of my many questions has helped someone else, too!

Mine vary... I get shooting pains, stabbing pains, and I also get the 'hot spots' From what I think I'm starting to understand about it even just from today, is that even the hollow-achey bone pain I get is from the neuropathy, too,.... it can pain throughout the body in all sorts of ways.

I never would have attributed all the extra "shocks" to Lyme though had I not seen that article that mentioned it. So, I'm glad I ran across it!

Some days aren't as bad as others for me, but some I am afraid to touch ANYthing because the sparks hurt so bad. I often have to pull my sleeves down over my hands before I touch anything (especially anything metal!) when I get like that.

This is crazy, when I was really sick I was scared to get into my car because I got a shock almost every time. This has not happend for the last 6 months. So maybe that is a sign that I am actually recovering!!
