MDJunction to me

liamacker"The part of my recovery plan that I would say made up 80% is MDJ. I suffered a lot prior to finding MDJ, felt alone and had no one to talk to who really understood me. In the Bipolar Group I found like minded individuals who I could relate to and who offered support to me when I needed it. As I recovered, I could then offer support to them which gave me a good feeling about myself. I have met some great people here who I would class as good friends and know I would still be in the slump I was in without them. Now I am stable, I know that MDJ plays an important part in keeping me that way. Thank you MDJ for being there for us all and making us no longer feel alone." (liamacker)

Hi All...I am able to access my medical history with my Insurance Provider (almost scary). I printed a copy & took it to my LLMD a couple of weeks ago (1st visit). My original test came back "Comfirmatory" Antibody, Borrelia Burgdorferi from my PCP (Pre LLMD). While reviewing my Diagnois and Lab Results I got curious.

I've had lots of bloodwork...hormones, thyroid, anemia, etc. etc. I noticed some of the bloodwork completed in 2006 like Lymphocytes, Neutrophils were high compared to the range showing with LabCorp. I researched that these tests have to do with the white blood cells. I found that normal ranges can vary. Anyone familiar with a good source that I can research on white blood cell counts? I was never too good with biology and suchBlush

Also, if the spirochetes were in my head or pituitary gland...would they show on an MRI? The MRI was done last year and supposed to be a screen for MS or tumor. I should probably ask the LLMD about this huhErmm

All of my bloodwork the LLMD had done is back in. I'll find out next week what the results are. Any recommedations for questions I should ask? Cognitive skills are steadily declining and I am extremely tired. Have to write everything down and remember to look at my list. Been a month on the abx and am not feeling any better but worse. Get lost driving and mumble jumble words, go to do something and forget what I'm doing. Plus normal aches, pings and pangs and ##@@@!!!! Headaches.

On a positive note, I now have a bed warmer!! Tongue It's a mattress cover that warms the bed. Aaghh the little things in life.

Thanks for reading my rambling and look forward to your thoughts.

Here is a site I use. As I have a high white count (have since birth) mine is between 12,000 and 18,000 all the time.

http://www.lymphomation.org/CBC-blood-counts.htm

If that does not help you, you can "google" white blood count...

*****if the spirochetes were in my head or pituitary gland...would they show on an MRI?*****

Spirochetes are bacteria and although they're one of the largest bacteria------ they can only be seen via microscope-------not on an MRI.

****. I should probably ask the LLMD about this huh?*****

Got THAT right. Smile And before you see him, save yourself and him some time by finding out more about these diseases.

A primer for people in your position is, sadly, hard to find. That's partly due to the immense complexity of the bacteria and disease(s).

The closest (that relies on scientific knowledge) is a rather long one by Tom Grier:

The Complexities of Lyme Disease

A Microbiology Tutorial

by

Thomas M. Grier M.Sc.

Lyme Disease is a multi-system disease which can affect virtually every tissue and every organ of the human body.

It is a disease which can be mild to some, and devastating to others. It can cripple and disable, or fog your mind.

It can affect men, woman, and children, and even your family dog. (1-5,7-19) You may test negative for the disease, and still have it, or test positive and be symptom free.

Some will get symptoms within days of a tick bite, while others may have it for years before they are even diagnosed. Some Lyme patients are told they have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, MS, or some other disease of unknown origin. (See abstracts of the 1996 International Lyme Conference)

There are some studies which strongly support that the infection can be transmitted from mother to the unborn fetus, and may even cause still birth and has been implicated in some SIDs deaths. (MacDonald 20,45,52,53)

Why is Lyme disease such a mystery?

Why does it mimic so many other disease?

Why is it so difficult to detect?

The reasons come from the microbiology of the bacteria that causes Lyme Disease.

Lyme disease is caused by a spiral shaped bacterium known as a spirochete. Diseases that are caused by spirochetes are notorious for being relapsing in nature, difficult to detect, and great imitators of other diseases.

Syphilis, Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever, and Leptospirosis are other examples of spirochetal diseases.

Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi, named after the man who isolated it from a Deer Tick in 1981, Dr. Willy Burgdorfer.

The following is a tutorial to help explain away the mysteries of this bacteria, and why it causes so much controversy between patients and the medical community. (1)

Please go to this site

http://www.canlyme.com/tom.html

and read the entire article. (It took me several times before I began to understand)

ONLY an educated (in Lyme disease) patient can begin to understand how complex and serious and difficult to treat Lyme is.

Then----- there are the co-infections. Sad

I'm an Advocate

I do know - cant remember where the info came from, but lyme can cause lesions or plaques on the brain - like MS - hmmmmm???? So I guess it is the damage that it can leave in its wake.

If you are having cognitive difficulties, are you on any meds, abx or alt that penetrate the blood brain barrier?

Now here, i will speak solely from experience, but whenever i seemed to be consistantly feeling worse, not quite herxing, and definatly not really getting better, we would mix up the meds...either add to what I was taking, or change the cocktail (i was rarely on only one abx at a time). Another thing to ask the doc about.

Just let you know that, you're not alone

And I just can't keep living this way
So starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage
I'm standing up, Imma face my demons
I'm manning up, Imma hold my ground
I've had enough, now I'm so fed up
Time to put my life back together right now" Eminem Not Afraid

Thanks all....need all the tools in my arsenal to attack this thing. I really want to understand how this thrives in my body so I can do all I can to kill it.

Cave, thanks for the tutorial linkSmile You always have great info/insight. Some of what I read is not so encouraging but great information....especially the part how it attaches (wiggles) into your cells so it has free roam (eek). Like I said before, researching this can be exhausting.

Christine, thanks again.. yes the memory thing is becoming a big issue lately. I have to constantly double check myself, write things down and talk to myself so I stay on track. I never noticed this so much before I started the abx (Doxy 400mg daily)- now a month. I don't know if it's the abx, because I've given up caffeine or if I'm having sub conscious sympathy for myself. Never thought I would say that. I will definitely ask the Doc about the cocktail possibilites. I saw another post you sent to another member about B12. I've now added that to my daily arsenalSmile

Julie...thanks for the link and your blood count. I will be researching this site tooSmile
