I was bit by a tick back in late 2006. It was a pretty big tick, and I did not notice a rash or feel sick at all. In February of 2007 I was pretty sick, fever, chills, horrible cough. I was on Antibiotics for what they thought was bronchitis. Symptoms went away, and I felt great for about a week. Early March - started with this dry cough. Dry cough turned into non stop throat clearing, then it felt as though I was having a heart attack. Went to the ER, said it was reflux. Been on nexium ever since with no real improvement. However... I was noticing throughout this time that I was getting tired easily. Especially when I work out. I was sick again with a flu like virus at the begining of October 2008. Horrible fever and joint pain. That went away, however at times my face feels like it is going numb, left side, under cheek, and spreading under the jaw. My left toes feel cold internally at times, but not to the touch. My right calf muscle seems as if I just worked out, which I havent. It almost feels as if I just had a charley horse. My right forearm gets tired very easily. I notice little floaters that come and go in my left eye. Sometimes I have difficulty taking a deep breath...like right now. I will have flare ups of frequent urination...then it goes away. That is the weird thing...these symptoms tend to come and go...day by day...hour by hour... I am worried about MS, ALS, Lyme... does this sound like anything you have ever heard of??? If I was on antibiotic back in the begining of 2007 after I had gotten bit wouldnt that have cleared up the infection? I was on Zithromax and Levaquin for a combo of 20 days. Thanks for listening!

To your question about being cleared up after 20 days of abx - NO - when you get bit, and have symptoms - and do not get aggressive treatment immediately - well, the odds are, you have this disease for life.

You have to understand how the disease works...it is not a typical bacterial infection. It goes whereever it wants, and can hide easily - so much so, that the immune system may not even recognize an infection.

You have listed symptoms that are pretty typical of Lyme - and even some that are typical of a more chronic infection.

As far as worrying about MS - MS is most likely is caused by Lyme or its own spirocheet strain - related to lyme - proofs been out there since the 30's...ALS - and Lyme from what I understand - very similar...

Best thing - Find an LLMD - Lyme Literate MD - that would be the best thing that you can do for yourself. You remember the bite - and how things have progressed - get with an LLMD.

I have to run - But welcome, and READ READ READ - you will have to be pretty diligent about this - as many refuse to believe or understand the real research - the truth about Lyme.

Good luck

Christine

I know what I am and I know what I am not

Never put it past this disease to be the culprit - but we also cant brainwash ourselves into believing that it is the only thing

Sorry to hear you have so many things going on!! After learning the consequences of not pursuing my mixed bag of issues, I would recommend that you be tested. I have experienced some of your symptoms, but I understand that everyone reacts differently. Better to know than not.... Hopefully this is something you can rule out. There are many on this site that have been there...done that. They will have good information for you to research. The Basics of Lyme Disease was a good start for me. I'm certain someone in the group can send you that link. Wish you well
