I've been on it for 5 months and I'm still going strong! I was on 1500 mg a day for 4 months, and I'm now down to 1000 mg a day. I've tolerated it well all along, but I'm on alot of supplements as well. I've been responding well to it and already starting to feel better. I was also on Omnicef and Tindamax for the first 4 months I was on Biaxin...slight metal taste in my mouth, but that was my only complaint.

Previous discussions I participated in:
antibiotics
New diagnosis of Lyme
twitchs/pain

The ratings are from 'just people'---- as here. Smile

Except for a few who had some 'strange' comments you can see that in general it was good for them.

I reached that site by googling "biaxin Lyme" (without the quotation marks). Smile

I was taking it along with ceftin for 3 months in 2005 (I have taken many medicines over the last few years for Lyme in different combination but I'm pretty sure that ceftin was the one that i took with biaxin). My Lyme flared up on it at first like my doctor had warned me but as my Lyme settled down to its normal place after a few months it never started to get any better. I have read and heard from medical professionals that it can be very effective in treating Lyme but it was not able to get the job done for me. I have been on a few different medicines that were not able to make me any better but if your doctor feels confident in it than I would have no reason to think otherwise. Good luck

Have you been tested for all the tick borne co-infections? (Of course the tests for them aren't reliable either, just as for Lyme.

Some llmds will treat for the co-infections (just as they do for Lyme) by clinical signs and exposure.)

Actually my doctor has tried to treat me for Babessia. I'm not going to lie... I'm not 100% sure what that means but my doctor has talked about the possibility of me having it.

I was on Biaxin before it was approved in this country - in mexico it was called Rulid - yep we smuggled it into the country Cool - but it helped. And when it became approved and known as Biaxin i was on it for 3-5 yrs - can exactly recall - but it was one of my main abx. For the longest time I was on Suprax and Biaxin...actually lookin to get back on it...Biaxin passes the blood brain barrier...a positive as many abx dont do that.

I want to say that after two months on it, I'm much improved. I can watch TV at night now. I can go all day.

I still have much neck pain and other issues. But biaxin may have cleared me of some issues.

I have very weird dreams with this Biaxin. And I love it, as I never used to dream before.

Yea - i found it to be one of the better abx that I had been on...

My mom is on it now, that and malarone, and she has some wacky dreams & nightmares. But other than that she is feeling better.

Glad to hear that you are improving!!

Keep at it!

Christine

biaxin is a great drug, my doc loves it. many have had success on it, but many times it's combod with others, like amoxi or doxy, or there's so many others, but it's certainly a good one. make sure you take a GOOD probiotic too. not just somethng that has acidopholis, something full specturm, usually from a health food store, or places like iherb.com have good things, we also have a store section here you could check out, just make sure it contains more than just acidopholis.
Please do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor.
