MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." hi everyone. I don't post often, but really would value some insight and experiences:

I have Lyme, and probably have had it for about 2yrs now.

Finally found a LLMD who was willing to treat me and thus was started on Biaxin and Suprax about 6weeks ago.

About 2 months before that I started the Buhner Protocol (which by the way made me feel ALOT better).

Since I still had neuro symptoms (dizziness, tingling, some headaches and such) I started on the antibiotics.

I may have had some minor herxing in the 2nd week, but nothing crazy.

However now, 5-6 weeks out, I am so lethargic it is crazy.

I also feel like I am fighting a cold (scratchy throat, nasal drip, and stuffiness), as well as some muscle soreness.

My question is: does the lethargy, muscle soreness and cold symptoms sound like a cold, or could it be a delayed-onset herx reaction?

Thanks in advance~! Vin

I don't know the answer to your question, but I was slammed with worse symptoms once I hit 4 weeks of abx. I thought the first couple of weeks was bad, but when week 4 got here, it has been nothing short of hell on earth ( lethargy, soreness, weakness, burning, low grade fever, head pressure, etc etc etc ).

I'm not sure I can do this. I can't feel this bad for months and months and months and maybe years and "hope" it makes me feel better in the end. Ironically, there is a 17 year old boy in my town who is dying of Leukemia, has about 1-3 weeks left, and he feels better than I do.

I have the utmost respect for those who went before me and endured this nightmare.

I sure hope you feel better. You may just have a mix of herxing on top of a cold.

It could be a growth cycle, the bugs replicate, usually in 3-4 week cycles, and then you can get slammed with symptoms. Weather changes also affect a lot of people. It could also be that the meds have just reached a certain concentration in your body, so they're more effective at killing the bugs. I wouldn't rule out a virus of some sort either (cold, flu). Either way, all you can really do is detox and boost your immune system.

Thanks for everyone's responses thus far! I'm hoping it is a herx.

Till this round of biaxin/suprax, I've only had doxy 2 seperate times for 4-6 weeks each and one round of ceftin for like 3-4 weeks.

My LLMD was surpriised I've had a lyme diagnosis for 2yrs and so few antibiotics.

So, I'm hoping this combo (has me on it for at least 2 months) will be what I need.

As I said I'm still taking the Buhner core protocol.

I'm also taking teasel (9 drops a day), Houttuynia (15 drops a day), and some magnesium, zinx and Vit C and D.

This lethargy is the worst. Though the low level dizziness is a VERY annoying symptom.

Any further suggestions are appreciated!

Vin

My wife's been on Rocephin IV for the 4th week this week, and it was hell.

She had 2 weeks of Flagyl as well (weeks 2 & 3).

Definitely this past week has been the most difficult, especially with mental functioning, concentration, and anxiety.

So, this seems to coincide with the 3-4 week cycle. I wonder how coinfections play into this cycle, though.

She has Babesiosis, and mycoplasma fermentans incognitus.

Herxing can happen ANYTIME!!!

You need to be detoxing...

Half your weight in ounces of plain or quality mineral water (minerals occur naturally) + 1-3 cups of water with Lemon or Lime added - fresh is best too...

Detox teas (Traditional Medicinals has a tasty options)...

keep some activated charcoal on hand for real bad herxs - but it must be taken 2 hours before or after anything else...

Benedryl too - but check with pharmacist for drug interactions first...

GET OFF REFINED SUGARS!!! These feed the disease...so you are arming it with food while trying to kill it...not a good combo...

Lyme is made to survive - you need to starve it.

Reduce acid levels (Lemon/Lime water or alkaline water/diet), and cut the sugars...you disable it.
