MDJunction to me

peasha"This has been one of the most supportive places I have ever been. I found MDJ by mistaking looking for drs to help me with my many health issues and since that day over a year ago I have found a tight nit little family that keeps me going when the times are tough and offers me a place of retreat to share my successes and failures with others. I get to see the humor and seriousness of what I experience as well as the resources to learn about my health conditions. Thanks MDJ" (peasha)

I totally get what you are saying Hope, but take a look at it this way...(trying to be objective here)

How many times have our kids said, "I promise I won't ask again?" Or even us for that matter? We shade it with, "Sorry to be a bother, but could you...would you..."

I absolutely HATE being thrown into that group myself, because I am an individual and just because umpteen people have reneged on that promise to not bother another repeatedly, doesn't mean that I am going to do the same...

Sometimes it just can't be avoided...especially when so many others have paved such a road in front of us....

SO, from the stand point of someone who is trying to put themselves out there - I would suspect that it was easier to nip it in the bud and take the risk with being rude...just in case it was another person who would turn out that way...

Also, the topic itself could be a sticky one for her...we all know that it certainly isn't hard for someone to hack a computer system...get our email addresses and emails...

who knows who could be checking on hers if she happens to be on the radar...such discussion could raise a lot of red flags...

And in all honesty it should - because these docs who are willing to treat Lyme as it should be, they have to watch their backs...anything - opinion or fact that they put in writing could be used against them...

And the bottom line is - EVERYONE is due a bad day here and there...and has the right to get snippy because of it...

if all that she said is what you posted - I wouldn't take it personally...there are a lot of areas where her opinions could have be used against her...its happened to many others...

I have been through the doctor mill - and have had docs be really rude to me...like when I was hospitalized for a bad flu...

The Gastro wanted to do a scope - we said no - that we wanted to let my insides calm down...

when he came to check on me the next day...I was already grumpy - I had some crack-head (no lie) next to me using a bed pan when she could EASILY use the bathroom...

And the nurses stuck an elderly lady outside of my room, who kept throwing her blankets off - and calling out for help that she was cold...

Then this guy walks in, sees I was reading Jane Eyre - and says..."Jane Eyre, Christine, isn't that a bit too HIGH CLASSED for you to be reading?"

Smug jerk-off...I went NUTS...Flung my tray in his direction, cursed him out...told him what a piece of crap he truly was...

That was rude - and I have had plenty more of that kind of crap...what I read from your experience - it was more like she was being stern if anything...

Let it go - if she is willing to treat you - you have to again have some patience and guarded faith...

Christine

We'll walk this road together, through the storm

Just let you know that, you're not alone

And I just can't keep living this way
So starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage

Regardless of what was said by her or you, you're lucky to have her respond to you AT ALL. Most docs don't respond, or only respond sporadically.

If you have an urgent need, then yes, you'll likely hear back. Otherwise, I'd give it a 50/50 chance. Could be that they have other patients with more urgent requests, could be they're just slammed with all sorts of drama that day.

One of the most important things to learn is that docs will not always call or email back with answers to basic questions. We joke about it at our doc's office, 50/50 chance we'll get a call back, and most likely will have to discuss at the next appointment. HOWEVER, if there is something going on that needs attention right away (scary symptoms, etc) he will call back. And we do have his cell phone # to use in case of emergencies.

my comments would have been what christine said.

i'd NOT take it personally.

i know we've given you answers to the best of our knowledge with NO MEDICAL background experience.

so look at this way, she offered to do emails BRIEFLY.

now if ALL her patients did this with many FOLLOW-UP EMAILS, she'd not get anything done when that time could be spent with patients explaining in detail thigns.

you asked for our honesty; that's what i'm doing with all due respect to you. hugs

Thank you, everyone.

And yes, I also told her there was no hurry in getting back to me, because I understood she was moving.

This is a service that they set up, and the nurse encouraged me to use this service rather than calling.

If they do not want to email patients back, then in my mind at least, why offer this service at all? lol

I guess I am just so used to be treated like chit by so many of my past docs, horrendous experiences in the emergency room, and on and on.

It is difficult for me to trust anyone other than my regular doc. She doesn't do a lot to get to the bottom of this thing, but she listens and she open to what new doc is suggesting.

I do believe I deserved a call back when I had questions about my test, then forgot in the face to face, but I will continue doing what I do best: playing the waiting game.

Thank you to all for your opinions, input, feedback. I do honestly appreciate it!

Best Wishes,

Hope :)
